This place is really the best of both worlds being close to coastal resorts like Cowes and Fishbourne and yet is surrounded by lush woodland and wildlife. Mottiston Manor Garden is also a really interesting and colourful day out for anyone who has green fingers or enjoys a wander around a stunning garden. The terraces offer amazing views and you can take in the scent of the fruit trees. The 16th and 17th century manor house is at the heart of the Mottistone Estate and there are some great walks from here.
When you think of the Isle of Wight you can't help but think of golden sandy beaches - they are one of the main reasons families enjoy holidays in this location.
Gurnard Beach
With a great position west of Cowes, this is a very quaint resort and should be on your list to visit during your lodge break. The beach shelves gently and you'll find a mix of sand and shingle. It's also a brilliant beach for windsurfing so water sports enthusiasts will enjoy it here. Another great option is Cowes Beach to the west of the town centre, this beach is fantastic for swimming or sitting watching the world go by.
Ryde Beach
Ryde is a popular resort for locals and those taking a well-earned hot tub break alike and Ryde Beach is a great attraction. Both clean and safe, this is a good choice for families with younger children. You will also find plenty to do here from cafes and restaurants to shops and playgrounds and even a golf course!
Other fantastic beaches worthy of mention are Colwell Beach for watersports and Ventnor Beach - a great place to soak up the sun on the golden sands.
The pace of life on the island itself is much slower than what you might be used to, which is a good thing. You can slow down and leave behind the mad rush.
The weather on the Isle of Wight is generally very good, with plenty of sunny days to enjoy the water and try out some watersports. Although it's often fun to hop in the hot tub on those cooler Autumn nights too.
Locals are very friendly and welcoming to guests with tourism being very important to the Island. There are plenty of shopping opportunities here, and we recommend you visit the shops in Ryde and Shanklin. You'll find all kinds of interesting places to buy gifts, toys and tasty treats!
The traffic can get slow during peak times so just be aware of that.
