Thorness Bay Reviews

"The first apartment was so dirty my wife was so upset that she didnt unpack reported to rec told us that they would upgrade us was told to go out and would have a caravan ready for us when we got back we had a phone call informing us that the caravan was not up to fit for porpoise and gave us another upgrade which was okay but not perfect we are both in our 70 ts and we have cut back on things to be able to get away what a waste of money and time"
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"The caravan is very cosy. Smaller than I thought. If you are bigger you may struggle with the single beds and walkways. Bed was really comfortable. Felt like a newish memory foam mattress. Caravan looked like the photo es. However there is no fireplace like it shows. The shower could do with a bit more of a clean and radiator was rusty. Other than that was a nice caravan. Caravan was average for the price we payed so happy with that. The only thing I would have changed is the location on sight. There is not enough parking for the caravans and chalets to share. We had to park five minute walk away from our caravan most evenings."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Not well signposted, receptionist on check in was not friendly or helpful. Massive cobweb in bathroom, crockery dirty and hob greasy. Very comfortable bed and clean linen. All staff with exception of the shop were miserable and gave perception didn't want to be there, however, some guests were undesirable and maybe had a knock on effect. Would not visit again"
Lisa - Nov 2023
"We had an excellent stay in the squadron caravan! Very spacious with a lovely enclosed veranda that my toddler could run around on without fear of him wandering off. Id highly recommend if youre looking for a budget friendly staycation."
Michaela - May 2023
"Food was overpriced £20 for an average steak!"
Lorraine - May 2023
"The caravan seemed recently refurbished and had everything we needed. Some of the doors were poorly fitted - either not shutting without force (bathroom) or being difficult to close (bedroom), which made a noise if you tried to get out quietly in the night for the toilet. The cleanliness of the caravan and site were nowhere near as high standard *** other sites/companies we have stayed with over the past year. On arrival, there was still muddy marks on the floor inside the front door and mud/scuff marks on some low surfaces. However, I do appreciate that some families probably leave the caravans in a bit of a state and your crew only have a finite time to get it all clean again."
Amanda - Apr 2023
"Lounge area very small for a large family, expensive caravan with not a lot of room. Reported 2 leaks that never got fixed."

"Good short break away from it all"

Stephen - Aug 2019
"I can honestly say we had a great stay at Thorness Bay. The park was easy enough to find as it was clearly sign posted. We arrived earlier than the check in time so took a chance on the caravan being ready, luckily it was and the staff could have not been any more welcoming. The check in process was so easy.

We booked in for what was classed as their Nautical Caravan, i'd say mid range from pre looking at the pictures online, I even thought about upgrading the day before as I just wasn't sure. I'm so glad I didn't bother as the Caravan we were allocated was so nice, 2 bedroom, a nice bathroom and kitchen-living area and all which were clean. My 5 year old's reaction was the best on entering "Mummy there's a table :) isn't that great" (she's seen tables before but she was amazed there was 2) We had 2 individual sofa chairs and a sofa and still plenty of room to move about. The Caravan itself had french doors which we could open up to allow the sun in.
We were located in the Solent Breeze's (Solent Village) which is pretty much the top section of the park away from the entertainment complex- which for us was no problem at all as the spacing between caravans was perfect- the view out to the bay made opening the doors and looking out worth it's location. Although a short walk to the complex- when you find cut through's it's very quick to get to there.

The entertainment staff like all staff were so friendly- my daughter loved the kids entertainment and we loved the party dances.

The pool- yes busy at times but still plenty of room to move around- the slide no matter the age great fun!

We never used the restaurant or the chippy so I can not comment on these.
Overall we can't wait to return to Thorness Bay for another holiday!"
Rebecca - Aug 2019
"Was a really good holiday and the hole family enjoyed there self"
Mark - Aug 2019
"Dining chair unstable, wooden wedge was loose, had to push it back in place."
Lynda - Aug 2019
"Had great time but park has need of update"
Hazel - Aug 2019
"A safe and relaxing holiday park. Friendly and helpful staff. The on site shop was very convenient and reasonable. The pool was good. The caravan park is situated near a small beach which was nice to have an evening walk on. There is a park next to the club house. The caravan was spacious and had all cooking utilities needed. There are supermarkets a short drive away. There was no internet or phone signal in or outside our caravan, but there was at the clubhouse. The gas did run out on day 3 but we went to reception and they sorted it out the same day. Overall a very pleasant stay and would definitely go there again."
Laura - Aug 2022
"Great location, gorgeous views of the Bay, Parade caravan excellent. Commodore caravan had a great lay out for a disabled person. Downside it was in need of an update on the seating area . Overall we were very pleased with the whole package and would definitely go again ?"
Marilyn - Aug 2022
