Medbourne Edge Retreat Reviews

"There was only parking for one carThe secluded hot tub is just a 6 ft fence panel, there were no instructions about the hot tub and on the last evening it was cold , no idea why The lodge itself was just standard one you would buy, no full length mirrors , no lamps, we had to turn on cooker hood as main lights were so harsh2x2 seater sofas for 6 people? When we arrived we were asked for £500 security deposit, nothing was written anywhere about this so we had no knowledge It took 12 days to get back to bank account which is unacceptable and should have been written clearly on booking webpage (then we would have picked somewhere else, hate waiting to get money back ) Three ladies of a certain age just wanted a getaway with a little bit of luxury and thats not what we got"

"Our Medbourne Edge Retreat review: The lodge and surrounding area are beautiful, we had lovely weather also. The hot tub was an added bonus. The lodge was very clean and tiny. The also negative was the mattress could do with changing, not very comfy, we could have moved to the other room. And please get some decent sized mugs for a proper cuppa of tea, so tiny. But well worth a visit."

"All in all a great stay, great views, very relaxing. Will definitely be back! Only feedback would be Internet speed and hand-wash at sink points."

"The Rutland Lodge sleeps 6 adults but only enough room to park one car. Several things not up to scratch for a luxury lodge, WiFi in number 9 poor. Hot tub is at the side seemingly as an after thought."
Christine - Jul 2024
"Highly recommend this location if you enjoy luxurious and peaceful accommodation with both Leicester & Mkt Harborough within easy reach. Rockingham Castle is also well worth a visit."
Jan - Jul 2024
"We really enjoyed our time at Medbourne lodges. Our lodge was lovely and spacious with beautiful views across the countryside. Very peaceful site.We were met by Simon who showed us to our lodge and was very helpful during our stay.Would highly recommend and I'm sure we'll return."
Diane & Rich - Apr 2024
"Lovely clean and modern lodge everything was excellent. The only thing I would like would be a set of steps to enable me to get in and out of the hot tub more easily"
Karen - Mar 2024
"The lodge is beautiful with lovely decor and everything we needed, the hot tub was gorgeous , only thing I could add would be maybe to have some fairy lights etc around the hot tub and as someone else has mentioned having a step up into the actual tub as it is a bit of a problem getting in and out and in the evening its pretty dark to see the ground ahead.. The other extra I think is a lamp in the main living area to cosy it up in the evening, but this is a personal preference and we just brought one through from the bedroom. Theres nothing else I can add as everything was just perfect for us ."
Sara - Mar 2024
"Lovely weekend spent at Medbourne Edge. Spotlessly clean, spacious, well equipped, quiet scenic location, just what we wanted for some quality family time after several busy weeks.Simon the manager was really welcoming and friendly. Hot tub was great, could just do with an outside light for evening use at this time of year. We will return."
Gerard - Mar 2024
"We had a lovely weekend and lodge had everything we neededMaybe could add bedside lights"

"Brilliant & cosy cottage far enough out the way to be secluded but close enough to local amenities. Amazing hotub & bathroom with underfloor heating throughout tops it off. The owners, Rob & Sharon are wonderful! (And of course Bonnie) Will definitely be coming back again for longer ASAP!!"
Christopher - Apr 2025
"Beautiful cottage with hot tub and log burner. lovely hosts, peaceful, perfect for our mini break. Hope to return for longer soon!"
Emma - Apr 2025
"Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. Charming half-timbered cottage with a great strong shower, cosy kitchen & living room combination and very comfortable bed. Fantastic parking directly next to the rented cottage. Well heated and very charming, and spotlessly clean. Great walks across the fields to the local village of Thaxted and of course within easy travelling distance of the village, replete with half-timbered houses and windmill. "
James - Apr 2025
"We had a wonderful time in Goddard Mead. The cottage was very complete and there were walks on the doorstep. The welcome and stay was very warm. The owners are lovely people."
Annemieke - Apr 2025
"The owners Rob & Sharon, have gone to a great deal of work to sympathetically convert this historic building & we couldn't have had a warmer greeting from them both & of course Bonnie. Goddard's Mead has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The location is in a great area of Essex and would recommend taking the time to wander around Thaxted and other villages/towns nearby to discover it's fascinating history & buildings. "
Carol - Apr 2025
"Had such a lovely, relaxing break. Cottage was immaculate, equipped with everything you need and some lovely added extras too. Couldnt recommended more"
Antonia - Apr 2025
"Had a lovely weekend away staying here. Would love to come back later on in the year."
Rachel - Apr 2025
"Lovely friendly owners. Couldnt do enough when the power went down due to the storm. Very well equipped and clean. Very warm cottage. Our dog enjoyed the enclosed outside space and us the hot tub!"
Penny - Apr 2025
"The place was lovely and with the dogs was great just walk around all the fields"
Chevaun - Apr 2025
"Stanning cottage with friendly owners and if course the jacuzzi. We had a great time."

Attractions Near Medbourne Edge Retreat

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Medbourne Edge Retreat. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
The Royal Forest of Rockingham - LE16 8UW
about 17 Miles
The Royal Forest of Rockingham in Northamptonshire is the perfect place to enjoy a range of outdoor pursuits including Walking, Cycling, Nature Trails and Horse Riding. The beautiful medieval hunting forest offers areas of ancient woodlands, agricultural land and peaceful stone-built forest villages. The forest is also abundant with wildlife including Deer, Squirrels, Butterflies and Birds.
Old Dairy Farm Centre - PO30 2NB
about 24 Miles
Suited to families with children of all ages this is a fantastic attraction in Northamptonshire.  There are many special events held throughout the year so don't forget to check what's happening while you are staying in the region.  Some highlights include the lambing weekends and the monthly local food fayres.
Old Dairy Farm Country Shopping and Craft Centre - LE14 3PF
about 24 Miles
From shopping to home cooked refreshments this is a wonderful day out in the pretty village of Upper Stowe.  You can enjoy amazing views over the Northamptonshire countryside and wander around the complex of stone built farm buildings.  Each building houses something different such as the Occasions Florist, Itsy Bitsy Gifts, Hayrack Gallery and Sheer Delights Lingerie.  When it's time for a rest the Barn Restaurant and Tea Room is the place to go.  There is a small selection of animals at the centre too which younger children will love.  They currently have two Kune Kune pigs, sheep, hens and ducks.  If you are looking for upmarket holiday accommodation in the Northamptonshire area then the luxury lodges at Wicksteed Park are sure to impress.
Catanger Llama Trekking - NN12 8LJ
about 30 Miles
This is a really unique attraction and certainly worth a visit in our opinion.  Established in 1995 and situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside this attraction will appeal to those looking for something a little different.  You can't ride the animals but you can trek alongside them and enjoy the fantastic scenery.  From farm tracks to country lanes the gentle animals will carry your rucksack for you along the way.  There are personally guided treks available all year round and you will have your own Llama for the trek.
Conkers - DE12 6GA
about 33 Miles
Conkers is an award winning attraction located in the midst of the National Forest.  Combining both indoor and outdoor activities this is an all weather attraction in the Peak District.  It's really easy to get to as well, just 5 miles from Junction 11 off the M42.  Designed for all ages some of the highlights include the Enchanted Forest Adventure play area and a simulated Tree Top walk.  Look out for special seasonal events such as October half term and the Annual Halloween Party.  At the moment you can receive a fantastic discount if you book your tickets online.
Crazy Crocodiles Indoor Play & Party Centre - LL30 1DR
about 36 Miles
This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire.  With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children.  The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families.  Look out for offers on their website such as a free hot drink on select days.
Rosliston Forestry Centre - DE12 8JX
about 37 Miles
Rosliston Forestry Centre is a beautiful woodland site with tranquil areas for Fishing as well as some beautiful meadows and a lake. For children there is a Play Area to run around on and during school holidays organised activities such as range led walks are available. The site is also an excellent place for Walking, Cycling and Horse Riding. Other available events taking place this year include an Archery drop in session, a Christmas Crafting Afternoon and a Mince Pie and Mulled Wine Walk.
Ash End House Childrens Farm -
about 38 Miles
With family fun for everyone a trip to this farm makes a memorable day out in Staffordshire.  Some highlights of the day might include the chicks and ducklings in a basket, goat kid walking, bottle feeding the lambs or bunny brushing.  Located in the Tamworth area of Stafforshire this attraction is easy to get to.  Look out for special events taking place throughout the year including weekend and school holidays when extra activities may be organised.  Don't forget to meet Chirpy while you are there - the extra large chick!
