Athelington Hall Farm Lodges Reviews

"Very nice chilled break"
Kirsty - Dec 2024
"Fabulous Arrival, all as advertised and nothing was missing, nice little touches we didn't expect like coffee, tea, biscuits etc. Cleaning products under the sink were a big advantage too Inc dishwasher tablets. The pillows are absolutely to die for, soooo comfy - all the beds too, very nice quality!!Great TV with all the apps used at home, really great and simple.Great games room for the children, includes so many things to keep them entertained.Had a few issues with noisey neighbours in another cabin while away but this was dealt with immediately by Staff/owner and even gave us free Rent of BBQ to rectify this the next day - Thank you.We would recommend a few things though - More fly papers required for all rooms, or electric fly bat is a must.(The flys are absolutely unbearable and this is October, I'd dread to think about summer month). More than 1 TV in whole cabin, maybe in bedroom especially when travelling with family. Dusting of the wooden ceilings is needed, cobwebs are a problem. We absolutely will be returning again and had a flawless stay over all.Thank you **"
Kimberly Foster - Oct 2024
"Lovely ,clean accomodation, with everything included that you'd need. In a lovely, quiet and peaceful setting. Loved the hot tub,and it was very private."
Mr & Mrs Keightley - Sep 2024
"A lovely quiet park with 2 walks around sign posted, a little shop in reception selling essentials, games room."
Debra - Sep 2024
"The Lodge itself felt very clean and well looked after. All the furnishings and fittings were top quality. It had everything you need in an accommodation. It was a home away from home."
Joe - Aug 2024
"Well equipped lodge, everything you could want, including a sauna in the bathroom!"
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"The lodge had everything we needed & was very clean, comfortable & tidy."
Shelby - May 2024
"We stayed in Hornbeam Log Cabin which was a field view 2 Bedroom Lodge with Hottub. The communication before arrival was fantastic and enabled us to arrive and access the lodge without any issues whatsoever. Inside the Lodge was clean, spacious and provided all the things we needed to enjoy our stay. The Lodge does need a little TLC in some areas, but honestly only in some small areas (some blown out edging around some of the cupboards etc) and nothing major. The shower facility in the lodge was good but the water pressure could be a bit hit and miss, again perfectly serviceable and no real problem for us. The internet and TV facilities were excellent and if course the Hottub was fantastic, clean and prepped every morning for us. I would also recommend paying a visit to a local Food Farm Store called Emmerdale in Westleton Rd Saxmundham - amazing choice of meats etc from the on site Butchers. We would not hesitate to come back and stay again - we had a really wonderful few days. Easily a 4.5 out of 5 from us. Thanks"
James - May 2024
"Just returned home from a weeks break here. Our cabin was amazing inside the pictures do not do it justice. We rented a bbq which was there ready and waiting for us. It was nice to have a contactless arrival this is the first time I have had this. Even though they are not there to greet you they are always around when you need them. We had daily visits to clean the hot tub and if you were in the hot tub at the time they would happily come back later. The cabin was really clean, the bed was sooo comfortable with feathered pillows. There is country side for miles which is lovely when you live and work in a busy town. We were told about the pheasant that hangs around and acts like he owns the place we saw him a few times. The walks around the farm are lovely with some breathtaking views. We visited the shop and the lady on reception was so nice and friendly. We felt very relaxed time did feel like it was going really slow which was lovely. The cabins are easy to locate we were in the hazel cabin and it was nice to have big trees/bushes either side to give you a bit of privacy when in the hot tub. If you want a break away to get back in touch with nature and to relax this is the place to go. You can hear tractors, pheasants and the pigs which is nice to hear. One night we had Suffolk wild flour pizza delivered to us the pizzas are amazing and it was nice to receive an email from the owners of the cabins to let us know this was happening and also how to order and the menu. We will definitely be coming back again and bringing the extended family with us."

Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"It has a hot tub and sauna and is so well put together, all the cooking utensils you need, plenty of cups and mugs and even some free tea and milk which was appreciated when a little hungover from too much wine! A Chinese that delivers there has huge portion sizes and know exactly where they are going, Chinese wok or something it is called. They give you leaflets with all the information in which is so helpful."

Amanda - May 2022
"Flies was a real issue"
Scott - Apr 2022
"The lodge had everything we needed and out of all the holidays we’ve had this was by far the cleanest. Normally we find ourselves having to give it a once over with cleaning products but not this place. Location was fantastic for us. We had no intentions of going out for days as we were quite local anyway plus we had covid so wanted 5 days to chill and the peace and quiet was lovely as well as the private hot tub which was checked on daily. The staff let you get on with it, they even provide keysafes to let yourselves in, yet they are always on hand to help if needed. Regular communication via email was sent throughout our stay just to make sure everything was perfect. There are some lively walks we went on too. Just one criticism would be there isn’t a lot to do for young children or families, they have a games room but this isn’t state or the art but if you’re looking to just relax and get away from it all then we can’t fault it. We will return and recommend 10/10"
Matt - Jul 2022
"Everything perfect with this lodge- was new , very clean and finished to a high standard"

"Perfect getaway, the lodge was spotless, it was peaceful and generally a fantastic break away. Only problem is very rural you have to drive to get to anything but if you just want to stay in all week then it’s perfect for you. 100% would book again!"

Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 8 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE

This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 21 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 22 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.

Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW

This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 30 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Colchester Zoo - CO3 0SL
about 34 Miles
Colchester Zoo is a fantastic place to visit with something for all the family.  Wander around and see the array of animals in excellent habitats.  Don't forget to visit the Leopards at Ussuri Falls, this new expansion can be located opposte the White Tiger Valley and the Medellin Momkeys.  Other popular areas of the zoo include Tiger Taiga, Chimp World and Wallaby Walkabout.   Look out for special events throughout the year such as Shriek Week on Halloween.  If you book tickets online you can obtain a discount of 10% and are also fast tracked on entry to the zoo - a great idea in the school holidays.
