About Heathside Lodges

Heathside Lodges in Suffolk will appeal to those looking for a peaceful base to explore the local area.  With a secluded setting these lodges have much to offer couples and families wanting a restful holiday but close enough to local towns should you want to get out and explore.

The market towns of Southwold, Aldeburgh and Walberswick are within reach for days out with a range of shops and restaurants.

The accommodation has been well designed and we like the Blyth Lodge for couples which sleeps 2 and comes with a private outdoor hot tub.  This lovely lodge also has mod cons including wifi access and flatscreen TV with freeview.  The spacious living area is ideal for relaxing and the french doors leading to the private decking are a nice touch.

The Waveney Lodge is slightly larger and sleeps 4 making it a good choice for both couples and families.  This lodge is sure to be popular with a spacious open plan living area, private decking and outdoor hot tub.  All of the lodges are also double glazed making them a cosy choice even in the colder months. And of course the outdoor hot tub can be enjoyed in all weathers - even snow!

The Deben Lodge is the largest of the lodges.  Sleeping 6 adults this is a spacious lodge with two double bedrooms and one twin.  One of the doubles has an en suite bathroom and there is also a family bathroom within the lodge.  With plenty of mod cons including microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer the Deben Lodge provides a comfortable base for your stay.  You will also enjoy use of your own private outdoor hot tub, as well as a balcony with patio furniture.

The local area is perfect for exploring. Some recommended days out include the Suffolk Odyssey Llamas in Halesworth less than 3 miles from the lodges, and Africa Alive in Lowestoft less than 10 miles away.

Heathside Lodges Reviews

"We had a lovely Monday-Friday break at heathside lodges. The lodge was spacious which was fantastic with lots of storage. It was clean and well equipped with a dishwasher (dishwasher tablets left for us to use); kettle; toaster; microwave; oven and TWO fridges & a freezer. The hot tub was a perfect temperature and size. The instructions that are left are really clear with how to use it. Our kids loved the football goals; play equipment & the nature walks around the site. We did also visit Southwold for an afternoon; Africa alive and we went to Halesworth for dinner one night. The Chinese takeaway leaflet left in the lodge we did use on our last night and it was yummy! The shop on site is great and reasonably priced. I would say the only downside for us as a family was a 9am check out. We had our evening on the Thursday and then left late Thursday night as we knew we wouldnt all be up; ready & car packed by 9am. Our children would love to return and we are looking to book again despite the early check out."

"Stunning cabin and relaxing surroundings"
Jason - Oct 2024
"The lodge was warm and comfy with the added bonus of the hot tub which we made full ise of."
Samantha - Oct 2024
"A lovely lodge with two bathrooms! Warm and cosy during our visit. Drains in the bath/ shower but slow at times meant you were standing in water but eventually drained. Lodge was really clean and well furnished."
Verity - Oct 2024
"Had a lovely weekend stay for 3 nights in lodge 2. Parking was just directly outside our lodge. So that was very easy for us to get our stuff in and out and the noise level from other people was nice respectful to others which made it ever more enjoyable and peaceful for everyone to escape from the normal boring every day life. The hot tub was a great hit for us soon as we arrived(Never missed a day using it). Everything was perfect with clean towels etc. Great value for your money and the owners are very nice and informative. Will recommend anyone to stay here and we will come back again in the future."

"The lodge could do with refurbishing inside and out. I.E bathrooms."
Christine - Aug 2024
"Clean, comfortable am with great facilities. Was nice to have a fully stocked kitchen with everything you need for the stay."
Chris - Aug 2024
"The lodge site is in a lovely quiet location and is ideal for relaxing, the shop is well stocked for a small shop and the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Orwell lodge number 13 its spacious fairly clean and the beds are super comfy but it needs updating and decorating inside, and also needs maintenance outside parts of the exterior are sun bleached and need painting one of the window sills was rotten, the only thing that really needs changing is the chairs on the decking they want going on the bonfire and should not be left for guests to sit on. To summarise good value for a big lodge with hot tub for less than £100 a day but just needs some TLC."
Jayne - Jul 2024
"very good if the shop sold newspapers would be helpful and the pub down the road is very handy"
Eileen - Jun 2024
"Lodge was spotless well stocked and the hot tub area was lovely and private. They had thought of everything washing up liquid, loo roll, tea towel and dishwasher tablets Only thing missing was a pair of tongs to pick my sausages out of the pan lol???????? overall fantastic would recommend to anyone x"
Linda - Jun 2024
"This lodge was spacious clean well equipped"
Stephanie - Jun 2024
"Had a very nice time. Would like to have a hoover or soft broom to be able to have clean round."
June - Jun 2024
"Very clean with everything that's needed. The settees are a bit tired now but otherwise lovely."
Verified Guest - May 2024
"Brilliant from the moment we arrived as ever.Cabin is warm and welcoming."
Judith - May 2024
"The lodge was clean and tidy. All the crockery, cutlery and equipment were spotless. However, there was only one dustbin bag, two dishwasher tablets, no welcome pack, no cleaning sprays and no hoover (there was a broom and dustpan and brush, but both pretty useless). The furniture on the patio was of good quality, but needed some refurbishment, there were no loungers. The bed was comfortable and the hot tub was very clean and we enjoyed using it. It would have been nice to have had a proper path to the entrance, we had to walk over grass and mud, which got trodden into the lodge. The site was very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay"
Edward - May 2024
"Excellent for the 7 time we are on this park"
Arie - May 2024
"Lodges clean and spacious, but looking a bit tired now, especially bathrooms and sofas."
Verified Guest - May 2024
"Perfect as ever, thank you"
Sally - May 2024
"These lodges are beautiful, very comfortable and generally good facilities. The grounds are very peaceful with good walks. The shop is well stocked and well priced. Excellent location. Our only issue was the wifi which dropped off regularly. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay"
Alison - Apr 2024
"Fantastic cabin, plenty of room for everyone. Hot tub was fantastic."
Katie - Apr 2024
"A wonderful lodge with all basic, but comfortable furniture. The space was adequate for us 3 ladies. It would have been nice to have some bottled water/biscuits/basic kitchen items, like kitchen roll, salt and pepper (not the sachets), oil for cooking and ice cubes in the freezer. Otherwise, well equipped with pots/pans, tableware and glassware. The lodge is warm and cosy, with superb bedding and very clean. I am hoping to book again for the summer!"
Rebecca - Apr 2024
"Great lodge only marked down as a washing machine would be useful (have had in previous lodges elsewhere) and also space in living room which could be used for an extra sofa or chair which wouldve been useful as a family of four with grown teenagers. Some maintenance also required eg one of the shower heads wouldnt move and lodge needs treating for better external appearance but I am being picky here, it really didnt impact our holiday in the slightest."
Nathan - Apr 2024
"Lovely lodge only criticism is that it could of done with a dressing table in bedroom and more storage in bathroom to put toiletries."
Sarah - Apr 2024
"I stayed with 2 adults and 3children aged 16 - 2 years. The lodge was beautiful, clean and fully equipped. Hot tub was always clean and heated perfectly. Plenty of towels and pillows even a board game to pass the time. We had a BBQ too. The shop was conveniently on site and fully stocked. All the staff were very helpful and polite. We had a fantastic time and would definitely book to stay here again."
Tiffany - Aug 2022
"Very good location for walks. There was a large field for children to play on."
Paul - Jul 2022
"Great location with only a 10 minute walk to the local friendly pub (20 on the way back after a few beers) serving amazing food and lovely staff and locals who made you feel very welcome The lodge itself was lovely inside with everything we needed. The exterior was a bit shabby and could do with a lick of paint. The hot tub was disappointing as on arrival we opened it and there appeared to be some sort of red drink spilt round the edge and some hairs in the tub. This had clearly not been cleaned after the last guests. The lid of the tub was also in poor condition with rips and tears and the handle broken. On the whole was a lovely break just a shame about the hot tub."
Heather - Jul 2022
"This is our 2nd visit to heathside lodges and it did not disappoint. The site is immaculate we have never been to a site which is so well maintained. All the staff onsite are friendly and approachable and nothing is too much trouble, the on-site shop is well stocked and reasonably priced. The lodge itself was spotless it had everything you would need with the added bonus of a hot tub which was clean and private. We will be going again"
Donna - Jul 2022
"Great location on a rural site ideally situated 10 mins from Southwold and the coast The site wad very well kept and shrub and tree planting ensured privacy to each plot. The staff and owners were all courteous and helpful Overall an excellent place to stay Highly Great location on a rural site ideally situated 10 mins from Southwold and the coast. Very peaceful and quiet"
Robert - Jul 2022
"Excellent location loved the hot tub. Relaxed week away"

Attractions Near Heathside Lodges

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Heathside Lodges. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 9 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 14 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 19 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 23 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 27 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 31 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 32 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Ickworth House, Park & Gardens - IP29 5QE
about 38 Miles
The National Trust Ickworth House, Park & Gardens is a Beautiful 1800 acre country estate with many attractions including a fantastic adventure playground for the children and a range of nature trails which the whole family will enjoy. The site also has a family friendly cycle route a gift shop and a small café
