Hot Tub Holidays in Bamburgh

Build your own castle on Bamburgh beach

With stunning sea views and golden sand Bamburgh beach really is a mile and a half of paradise for walkers, families, sandcastle builders, and surfers. On blustery days a walk along the sand blows the cobwebs away. When the sun shines and the sea is calm, sit back and watch the world go by. Several surf schools have taken advantage of the ideal conditions at Bamburgh and offer lessons for visitors.

Indulge in award winning regional ice cream.

Try some delicious ice cream

Wyndenwell café and gift shop carries Beckleberry’s ice cream. Classic flavours, such as vanilla and chocolate, or unexpected delights, like rocky road and Eton mess, can be savoured in the comfort of Wyndenwell’s pleasant interior or enjoyed whilst basking in the sunshine on the outdoor benches. Homemade cakes and sandwiches are also on offer. Wyndenwell is definitely something to write home about – so remember to purchase a postcard!

Discover the magic of Alnwick

The market town of Alnwick is a half-hour drive from Bamburgh. Best known for its role as Hogwarts in Harry Potter, Alnwick castle offers broom stick training from real wizarding professors. Adjacent to the castle are Alnwick gardens. Here, the cherry orchard is ideal for a moment of tranquility whilst the lawns are perfect for a family picnic.

Tempt your taste buds at the local restaurants.

Bamburgh has a plethora of eateries for all times and tastes. Choose from an extensive selection of teas and speciality coffees at The Copper Kettle, dive in and sample the offerings of the North Sea at The Potted Lobster, enjoy proper pub grub at the Castle Inn, or devore a bacon sandwich from The Hut.

Celebrate a Victorian heroine

A trip to the RNLI Grace Darling museum takes you into the past to learn about the life of Grace Darling, who risked her life to rescue sailors ship-wrecked off the Farne Islands. Housing a collection of personal items, the museum’s dedication to keeping this real life heroine’s story alive makes it a must see for all.

Meander to Bamburgh Lighthouse

Stroll north along the beach to Bamburgh lighthouse. Perched on a shelf of rock, it is an ideal resting place with spectacular views back towards Bamburgh castle, and across to Holy Island and the Inner Farne Island. Along the walk, there are rock pools to explore and a white stag to spot. Those looking for a shorter walk can park nearby and access the lighthouse from the road.

Sail away to the Farne Islands

With boats leaving nearby Seahouses several times a day, a trip to the Farne Islands is a must for Bamburgh visitors. Cruise the islands looking for grey seal colonies or go ashore at Inner Farne Island to admire the lighthouse and scout for puffins. If you’re looking for a bit more adrenaline high speed rib rides are also available!

Become Lord of Bamburgh Castle

Towering above the village and steeped in history, visitors can step back in time to discover the last millennium. Roam the state rooms, peruse the armoury, and take command of the keep. Re-enact your own battles in the nine acre grounds and visit the museum, dedicated to inventor William Armstrong.

Explore the drama of the Northumberland coast

An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Northumberland’s coast is best experienced on foot. Hop onto the coastal path as it passes through the village, heading south to Seahouses or north to Budle Bay. Jagged cliffs, rolling dunes, and breath-taking views are all included. The grasslands along the route are often bright with wildflowers and a variety of wildlife can be spotted by those with a keen eye or a good pair of binoculars.

Escape Reality at the open air cinema

If visiting Bamburgh during the summer months a moonlight flick in the castle is the perfect evening activity. In August 2024, Grease and Bohemian Rhapsody will be shown among others. Snuggle up under the stars ready to lose yourself in the magic of the big screen.
