Thornbrae Apartment Reviews

James - Sep 2023
The apartment was spot-on, super well-equipped and cosy. We loved how clean everything was - it felt very welcoming. The hot tub was a real highlight, so relaxing after days out exploring. It’s a short stroll into Alnwick, with loads of great places to eat and drink. The weather made our week even more special. Brilliant stay!
Emily - Aug 2023
We had an exceptional holiday home! The location was perfect and the accommodation really was superb. It had everything we needed to start enjoying our holiday right away. We would highly recommend it and have told others, too. The hosts let you get on with your stay but are easily accessible if needed. The outside space is lovely, with a great garden, a private jacuzziand sauna that were perfect after a long day of walking. There’s modern technology throughout and a fully equipped kitchen. Plus, the bed is huge and super comfy.
Mark - Aug 2023
What a fantastic place to stay! The owners are really lovely people who make you feel right at home.
James - Jul 2023
What a fabulous and wonderful break we had! The accommodation was really well appointed and felt like 1st class. It's in a quiet area, but just a nice stroll into the town centre, which took us about 10 to 15 mins. Plus, it was super easy to access the road network for exploring the lovely local countryside and beaches!
Ella - Jul 2023
We had a fantastic weekend away at Thornbrae Apartment! The apartment itself is really spacious and equipped with all the essentials you'd need. The hosts even provided some lovely extras like milk, butter, cheese and crackers, which was a nice surprise! It's truly a beautiful space in a great location for exploring Alnwick and everything Northumberland has to offer. Thanks for having us!
Sophie - Jul 2023

Emma - Jul 2023
We've already told family and friends about your accommodation. The location is fantasticand the place is really wonderful! We'll definitely be returning.
Emily - May 2023
We loved this beautiful apartment! It was so easy to walk to Alnwick Castle, the Castle Gardensand the lovely town. Everything was clean and well stocked with all the essentials. The bathroom was elegant and spacious, plus the large shower was a nice touch. The bedroom had plenty of wardrobe space and a super comfy bed. The location was quiet and calm, yet we had easy access to travel routes. Such a lovely property that we would definitely use again.
Mark - Oct 2022
This is one of the best self catering places we've ever been to! The apartment was warm, comfortableand really roomy, perfect for two. The welcome pack was extremely generous. The hosts were excellent too.
Jessica - Oct 2022
Thornbrae felt just like home, with all the essentials we needed. The kitchen was really well equipped for our nights in, plus there were loads of nice places to eat out close by too.
Oliver - Sep 2022
This place is perfect for self-catering, especially for two people! Just a heads up, the entry involves some fairly steep stairs, which could be tricky for folks with certain disabilities. The apartment itself is very comfortable and well-equipped, sitting about a ten-minute walk from the town centre, the Gardensand the Castle. The road can get a bit noisy at peak times, but the apartment is set back enough that it doesn't really disturb your stay.
James - Aug 2022
Five years on from our first visit, the apartment is still looking great and has been really well kept. It’s so well equipped and the location is just perfect!
James - Jul 2022
We stayed in a top-quality, well-fittedand clean apartment that came with an excellent welcome pack. The location was perfect for exploring the local area - Alnwick and Bamburgh castles, boat trips to the Farne and Holy islands, National Trust houses and gardens, plus Alnwick Gardens. We loved the private hot tub and saunaand there was also shared outdoor play equipment, which was great for families with kids. Highly recomended!
James - Jun 2022
We stayed in a spotless apartment that was just perfect for a coupleand it had everything we needed. The owner was super welcoming and provided a great Welcoming Pack along with tips for local attractions. We would definitely highly recommend it!
Hannah - Jun 2022
We really enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable detached coach house. Even though it's upstairs, the stairs are wide and not too steep, plus there's a handrail on either side. It was spotless and well equipped, which we appreciated. Parking is just in front, making it super easy to unload and load. It's only a pleasant 15-minute walk into town. Alnwick is such a lovely market town and just a few miles from Alnmouth and the sea. Julie, the owner, is really helpful, friendlyand always contactable if there are any problems. We would definitely recommend it!
James - Apr 2022
We really love Northumberland and needed a location up north. Alnwick turned out to be perfectand the apartment was simply superb. There was plenty of room for parking and the inside was absolutely fantastic. Spacious, clean, tidyand really well equipped. We made good use of the hot tub and enjoyed the large garden area out back. The Oaks Hotel was only about a two-minute walk awayand we reached the town in around ten minutes. The places we wanted to visit this time were pretty easy to find from Alnwick. Overall, it was a great week and many thanks for a brilliant appartment!
James - Dec 2021
What a lovely place! It's got a perfect location right in the heart of everything. We had such a great time exploring the area. It was just what we needed for a relaxing getaway. Can't wait to come back!
Emily - Nov 2021
What a beautiful apartment! It’s clean, comfortableand really well equipped, plus the location is just brilliant.
Oliver - Oct 2021
The apartment is really lovely. It has one bedroom and is completely self-contained. There’s loads of space to chill out and the location couldn’t be better. It’s just a 10-15 minute stroll to the town centre and the same for the castle and gardens. We really liked the welcome pack with bread, milk, eggs and cheese, which was such a nice touch. We will definitely be coming back!
Lucy - Oct 2021
We found this apartment to be really comfortable and finished to a high standard. It’s super well equipped with a large king bed, a lovely rain shower, reclining sofas, a massive TVand a hot tub, alongside a well-equipped kitchen that was great! The welcome pack was really generous, which we appreciated. The location is perfect for exploring the area, though there is some road noise if you have the windows open. The hot tub isn’t private, but overall, we would highly recommend this accommodation.

Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX
about 10 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT
about 27 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
Conundrum Farm - EX5 3AQ
about 30 Miles
With easy access from the A1 this lovely farm just north of Berwick makes a fantastic family day out.  Follow the farm trail and meet an array of friendly farm animals.  Kids will also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, pet barn and tractor circuit.  The admission fee is excellent value and you will get a free bag of food for the animals and a bag of fish food for the trouts in the fish pond. When you want a bite to eat, the licensed restaurant is the place to go with quality home cooking and a charming location in some of the converted farm buildings.
Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 36 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
