If you don't fancy staying in Edinburgh City Centre in a B&B or one of the hotels, booking up a lodge can make for a luxurious way to experience everything the city has to offer while offering loads more space and your own private outdoor hot tub.

Less than an hour’s drive from Edinburgh and only minutes on foot from the popular town of Lauder, Thirlstane Woodland Lodges are a top choice for families and groups seeking a bit of culture and style!
From the décor to the countryside surroundings, these holiday homes are a modern take on tradition and a nod to all things Scotland!
Guests will be able to enjoy magnificent views of ‘Leader Water’, as well as Thirlestane Castle (also known as one of the seven ‘Great Houses in Scotland’). The nearby town of Lauder also hosts an annual summer festival and families will be able to explore the local history by taking its 2km ‘Lauder Town Trail’.
For families wanting affordable luxury, the Kingfisher lodge is ideal. This spacious cabin can accommodate up to four guests and features a king-size room, as well as a comfortable twin.

For a day of exploring, the nearby town of Crieff is worth a trip. Packed full of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops, you’re bound to stumble across some great food here.
What’s more, the famous ‘Grouse experience’ is just around the corner. You’ll be able to take part in an immersive tour of the Glenturret Distillery, learning all about the history of its renowned whiskey. Great for a parents’ afternoon out!
Other well-known attractions include the Scottish castle of ‘Scone Palace’, where you can become royalty for the day. Not only will you have the chance to wander the grounds of this historic landmark, but you’ll also learn more about how past kings were crowned here!
Go Ape has also been recommended for families wanting a fun day out. You’ll find this popular attraction less than an hour away, whilst Edinburgh is around an hour and a half’s journey from the resort.
Just under two hours from the buzzy city of Edinburgh, the Escape pod doesn’t need much explanation.
Designed for families wanting a relaxing break, this modern holiday home is located within Westlands Country Park and can accommodate up to four guests and two pets (albeit, at a squeeze).
Guests will find a double bed located on a mezzanine, whilst there is a pull-out bed on the ground floor. Additional facilities include a cosy fireplace, a luxury hot tub and a large sofa which can be used as a separate bed. This lodge also includes amenities such as board games to keep the kids entertained in the evening!
As previously stated, there are lots of opportunities to explore at this holiday park. Not only are there onsite fishing lakes and clay pigeon shooting sessions, but the famous ‘Dumfries & Galloway’ is close by. In addition to this, the town of Annan makes a great day out.
