Carmarthen Bay Reviews

"We absolutely loved our stay! The rural setting was so peaceful and the hot-tub really made it special. The courtyard was charming, perfect for relaxing after long countryside walks. Brilliant getaway!"
Rachel - Apr 2025
"This place was just what we needed-peaceful and tucked away from busy areas. The hot tub was a real treat and the owners were friendly without being overbearing. Perfect stay!"
George - Feb 2025
"We really enjoyed the walk, the scenery was lovely and the dogs loved exploring everywhere."
Ellie - Jan 2025
"Absolutely loved our stay! The owners really went above and beyond to make everything perfect. Well be back soon!"
Mike - Jan 2025
"Our Carmarthen Bay review: Really enjoyed our stay here, the garden was perfect for our dog and super safe too."
Amelia - Dec 2024
"We had a good stay overall, but one thing that caught us out was not having any cleaning supplies or a vacuum available. If its in the brochure, we missed it, so bringing our own might be wise. Still, wed come back and recommend it!"
David - Dec 2024
"We recently stayed at Goddard's Mead and were genuinely impressed. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, which was lovely. The building itself is beautifully restored, blending history with comfort perfectly. The location in Essex is ideal for exploring Thaxted and nearby places-definitely worth taking a stroll around. We felt really relaxed and would happily come back. Its a great spot for a peaceful getaway!"
Jane Roberts - Nov 2024
"We just got back from a really nice four-night stay at this cottage. The owners were super friendly and helpful without being intrusive, which we appreciated. The big fenced garden was perfect for our dog-she loved it! The place had everything we needed and we even enjoyed using the BBQ one evening. The hot tub was fantastic! Wed definitely come back and already recommended it to friends. Thanks for a lovely break!"
Hannah - Oct 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was cosy and peaceful, perfect for escaping busy city life. The hot tub was a lovely touch. Owners were super helpful without being intrusive!"
Tom - Oct 2024
"The cottage was just lovely, especially with the hot tub and log burner. Hosts made us feel really welcome, so peaceful. Cant wait to come back!"
Charlotte - Jul 2024
"Looking forward to returning, fingers crossed for sunshine!"
Martin - Jun 2024
"We stayed in this lovely, well-equipped house and felt right at home. The place was warm and cosy, perfect for a rainy December day. The bath was fantastic and the big shower was a bonus! Sure, it's under a flight path, but honestly, it didnt bother us at all. Great spot for dogs who dislike fireworks, nestled in the middle of nowhere. Thanks so much!"
Sophie - Jun 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was just perfect."
Harriet - Apr 2024
"We had such a lovely stay at this charming spot, nestled in a really peaceful, private area. The owners were super friendly and always ready to help if needed, but it still felt very secluded. The hot tub was just what we needed after a long day cycling - absolute bliss! One thing to mention is that the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but if you're sensitive to noise, just a heads up. Overall, a great place to unwind!"
Rajiv - Mar 2024
"The stay at Goddard Mead was lovely. The cottage had everything we needed and right outside the door were some great walks. The owners made us feel really welcome, which we appreciated a lot."
Lillian - Mar 2024
"We recently spent a few days at Carmarthen Bay Park Dean Resort and honestly, it was a bit of a mixed bag. First off, getting there isnt the easiest - the road leading in is quite narrow and a bit tricky to spot the turn, so you really need to keep your eyes peeled. Once youre on the site, its really remote, which is a plus if youre after peace and quiet. But beware, because if youve got little ones and theyre not in school, you might find the place a bit noisy - especially if theyre running up and down until late. We were surrounded by families with kids and the noise level was quite high until quite late, which was a bit frustrating. The site itself is quite sprawling, with caravans arranged in rows and fairly close together. It wouldve been nicer if theyd grouped older guests separately from families with young children, just to keep the peace for everyone. Our caravan was pretty basic but comfortable enough for a short stay. We did have to drive because the weather was so wet - walking to the amenities is quite a trek, especially in the rain.Speaking of amenities, the swimming pool, amusements, bar and restaurant are all there, but the food options are pretty limited. The only on-site dining is the Boathouse restaurant, which has a decent menu but tends to be quite pricey. We had dinner upon arrival since there wasnt anywhere else nearby and the quality was okay - nothing special but okay for what it was. A kids meal was around £7, which adds up fast if youre feeding a few children. The drinks werent cheap either - a pint of lager was over £6, which felt a bit steep. Kidwelly village isnt within walking distance, so unless you drive, youre stuck with the on-site options or paying for taxis, which we didnt check if theyre available. The sites entertainment facilities are actually pretty good. The clubhouse is lovely - one of the nicest weve seen at a campsite. Theyve got a programme of activities, including early entertainment for kids, which the staff seem really enthusiastic about. The children had a great time and the staff are very attentive. Bingo is played in the evening from 7pm, with a small fee for a book - £12 for six pages, with the last game having a prize of around £400 if youre lucky. It didnt take long and its a fun little activity. Theres also a flyer game that costs £6, if enough people want to play. We didnt stay for the evening entertainment after bingo, but theres quite a lot on offer. The site shop is handy if you forget something, but its very pricey - best to take most things with you. Newspapers are available daily. We didnt use the pool, so cant comment on that, but it looked clean enough. The caravans dont come with toilet paper, so thank goodness we packed some - its always better to be prepared. One of the highlights has to be the view from the restaurant - its stunning, overlooking the estuary and a perfect spot to watch the sunset. Bring binoculars if youre into birdwatching; youll see a variety of birds along the waters edge when the tides out. The walks along the shore are lovely too, especially if you like a peaceful seaside stroll. All in all, its not the best park weve stayed at recently, but it served its purpose as a base to explore the area. The castle nearby is definitely worth a visit if youre in the neighbourhood. Despite some annoyances, particularly with the noise and the price of food and drinks, we managed to enjoy our stay - just dont expect total tranquillity, especially if youre near families with young kids. The location, the views and the lovely clubhouse made up for quite a few of the downsides. Would we go back? Maybe, but only if we knew itd be quieter and if we could find somewhere nearby to eat out instead of relying on the on-site restaurant all the time."
Sarah J. - Mar 2024
"This place is perfect for some chill time. The hot tubs a nice touch and the whole vibe is really peaceful. The hosts are lovely and its just the right spot if you want a quiet getaway. We loved it!"
Benji - Dec 2023
"The place was really calming and perfect for our dogs with that fully enclosed garden. Lovely stay!"
Grace - Nov 2023
"The caravan looked lovely, but honestly, it wasnt properly cleaned. There were sweet wrappers under the beds and the plates and cutlery were quite grubby. Seems like the last guests didnt leave it washed and staff probably missed a proper check. Not great!"
James - Nov 2023
"Overall, we had a good experience. The site was clean and warm, but quite isolated. Need a car."
Emma Clarke - Nov 2023
"The place was really lovely, super peaceful and perfect for dogs since the garden's fully enclosed. Definitely recommend!"
Harper - Oct 2023
"We had a lovely time at Goddards Mead again. The cottage was perfect in every aspect. Can't wait to return!"
Michael - Oct 2023
"We had a really lovely stay at this place! The setting is so peaceful and private, yet the owners are super friendly and nearby if you need anything. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day of cycling - honestly, perfect. Just a heads up, the cottage sits directly under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much after a couple of hours, but if youre sensitive to noise, its worth knowing. Overall, a great spot for a relaxing break!"
Raj - Sep 2023
"The owners really have thought of everything here. We had such a relaxing time, wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends!"
Samira - Sep 2023
"We spent a week here in July with our two mini dachshunds and honestly, it was lovely. The village of Thaxted is charming and our pups made plenty of new friends. The cottage itself is really cosy and the hot tub was a real treat-especially with the hot weather, it was so nice to cool off! The hosts were super friendly and welcoming, it was nice to see them taking their dogs out to the fields each day. Plus, watching the planes land near Stansted was quite interesting. Definitely a place wed recommend!"
Jessie - Sep 2023
"We really enjoyed our visit! The grounds were lovely and walking with the dogs was a treat."
Ella - Sep 2023
"We had a fantastic weekend here, exactly what we needed. The house was perfect and really comfy. Our dogs had a blast, especially with the underfloor heating-such a hit! The garden was great fun for them. Luna even came back with a strained tail, but its just from wagging so much! Everyone left happy, pups and us alike."
Charlie - Aug 2023
"We had such a lovely stay at this place! The setting is genuinely stunning and very private, which we really appreciated. The owners were super friendly and helpful when we needed anything, but it still felt peaceful and away from it all. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day cycling. One thing to note, though, is the noise from Stansteds flight path - theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a few hours to get used to it, but it didnt ruin our trip. Overall, a great find!"
Rajesh - Jul 2023
"Really pleased with the caravan, it felt cosy and well set up for our trip."
Chris - Jun 2023
"Great experience, definitely planning to return."
Emily Carter - Aug 2020
"Most of the staff were absolutely fantastic. Thank you ladies. I’ve given a five for the two young men who were rude and unhelpful."
Peter - Aug 2022
"We had an amazing time at Camarthen Bay. The location is stunning and there’s always something to do for the children, I would always pre book activities in advance to ensure we got a place. The staff are always helpful and friendly and there is always someone around to help. The beach is a stone throw away and so beautiful. I would definitely stay here again."
Shereena - Aug 2022
"Fantastic holiday. I absolutely adore Wales and thought I would stay in a chalet in camathan bay this time. I loved every minute of it. At the end of the day if you love being remote and away from the rat race. This is the place to stay. Great for the children. A stones throw away from the beach. Yes you are on country roads and unfortunately there is a lot of that in Wales and that is what I love. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Cosy home from home chalets."
Sarabeth - Jul 2022
"Staff are amazing upgraded us ASAP no problems"
Katie - Jul 2022
"Beautiful holiday park would highly recommend staff are great clean place really nice and enjoyable"
David - Jul 2022
"Great site. Only downside is the proximity of the train line, which to be fair after the first couple of nights even the 25 oil tankers and diesel engine didn't wake us."
Ginette - Jul 2022
