Golf lovers take note! Amidst the tranquil woodland and the luxury lodge accommodation, Herons Brook Retreat Lodges has its very own on-site 18 hole golf course! It’s also close to Narberth, which has some lovely street cafes and a good selection of shops – plus a vineyard where you can watch the wine-making process and sample some fine Welsh wine. The Pembrokeshire coast is stunning and there are a number of excellent beaches within a very short distance.

The lodges are beautifully presented and offer a real touch of luxury. We’ve already mentioned the 18 hole golf course but there is also a wealth of woodland where you could take a gentle evening walk before retiring to your private hot tub. The park has a coffee shop with Wi-Fi access and Herons Brook Lodges is the perfect base from which to explore west Wales.

We think Hornbeam Lodge with its contemporary styled living space and spacious lounge that leads out to its own private verandah with hot tub is just stunning. It sleeps up to four people and has a double bedroom with ensuite shower and a twin room. Fully double glazed and centrally heated, Hornbeam Lodge is luxurious and modern.

The Pembrokeshire coast has miles of sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and great waves, perfect for surfing. The seaside town of Tenby is only few miles away where there is lots to see and do, such as visit the Dinosaur Experience or head to Heatherton World of Activities for paintballing and indoor bowls. Nearby Canaston Wood has one of Wales’ largest indoor water parks, great fun for both children and adults!

Herons Brook Retreat Lodges Reviews

"The lodge's definitely showing its age, but they've updated the hot tub which was a nice touch. Everything else pretty much revolves around the golf course, so a cars pretty much essential. Still, we enjoyed our stay!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"Really enjoyed the stay"
Emma - Mar 2025
"Honestly, we had a bit of a rough patch during our stay, but overall it wasnt too bad. For the price, it was pretty decent. There were a few minor things like a bulb out in the bathroom and some in the living room, plus the floorboards in the kitchen kept sliding around - kinda annoying! The plates and glasses werent always spotless either. But the hot tub totally made up for it; it was fantastic and really well maintained. The lodge itself was stunning and the bed was super comfy, so we slept like logs. Unfortunately, towards the end, we hit a bit of bad luck with the power tripping out. An extension lead blew a fuse, leaving us in the dark for about 13 hours - not ideal, especially since we rely on our tech. Still, the staff at both the on-site and head office were really helpful and sorted it out quickly, which we appreciated. Things happen and they handled it well. The kitchen was well stocked too, which was handy. All in all, despite the hiccups, we had a lovely stay and would come back!"
Emma and Jake - Feb 2025
"The lodge was stunning and super clean. Hot tub was fantastic!"
Emma Clarke - Feb 2025
"Our Herons Brook Retreat Lodges review: Really enjoyed the stay, will definitely return soon."
Emily - Feb 2025
"We arrived at Herons Brook on a chilly Friday afternoon around 5pm and were greeted at reception by a friendly staff member who showed us to our lodge. They also pointed out the hot tub, which was a nice touch. After that, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The lodge itself was fairly clean and tidy, although the kitchen was a different story - we ended up washing all the cutlery, plates and cooking pots because they were quite dirty. We had to go out and buy washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets and a sponge since none were provided, which was a bit of a faff. The hot water situation was a bit frustrating. It was tepid at best and despite the boiler running in the cupboard and showing 60C, neither of us could get anything hotter than warm out of the taps or the shower. It was annoying because we assumed there was a thermostatic mixer valve somewhere. The shower water was especially disappointing - we just couldnt get that proper hot water wed hoped for.The lodges furnishings were decent enough - two sofas, a dining table and a very comfy bed. It had everything you'd need in terms of furniture, though we did notice there was no way to connect the TV to the internet or anything. The TV was an older flat-screen, mounted in a way that made it impossible to plug in a laptop or streaming device, which was a shame. It would be really handy to have that option, especially if the weather turned nasty and you wanted to stay in.The hot tub was lovely and hot, which was great. We had a bit of a laugh when we both got in and most of the water spilled over the sides - it was filled right to the top! Overall, it was nice to relax in, although it did seem to be filled quite high.As for the site itself, it looked a bit unfinished - lots of orange pipes sticking out of the ground and a jumble of bricks, slabs and pavers scattered around. The lodges were closer together than the photos suggested, which was a bit disappointing. For the price, we did expect a bit more in terms of amenities. Things like toilet paper, full-sized towels and a properly cleaned kitchen would have made the start of our break much better. All in all, wed give it a 3 out of 5. Its not terrible but definitely not somewhere wed rush back to. A few small improvements could make a big difference, but for now, its just okay."
Emma & Tom - Jan 2025
"We honestly had such a lovely time staying here! From the moment we arrived, the lodge felt super welcoming-warm, cosy and incredibly clean. The beds were really comfy and we appreciated having plenty of pillows for a good night's sleep. The toiletries mini sets were a nice touch, really pretty and useful. The hot tub was fantastic-hot and perfectly maintained every day, which made relaxing so easy. The nearby village, about a 15-minute walk, offers a good choice of shops, a bakery and some charming pubs, though its quite a hill climb, so driving might be better if you're not keen on hills. Tenby is only about 20 minutes away by car and its such a stunning place to explore. We had a really chilled New Year thanks to this brilliant spot-definitely a place wed love to come back to!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"We had such a lovely New Years break! The decor was charming and cosy, making us feel right at home. Watching fireworks at midnight was a real highlight for everyone. Great trip!"
Charlotte - Jan 2025
"We spent the week from Monday to Friday over Christmas at these lodges and honestly, it was lovely. The place felt really warm and inviting, making it a perfect cosy retreat. When we arrived, everything was ready, including the hot tub, which was a nice surprise. They even left a Christmas card and a gift for us, which was a sweet touch. The lodges were spotless and well-equipped. Theres a charming little village nearby with shops just a few minutes away and the beach was about a 20-minute drive-perfect for day trips. We also took a trip to Tenby, which was stunning. Would definitely recommend these lodges!"
Emma - Dec 2024
"Really enjoyed the stay overall"
Emma Carter - Dec 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge had everything we needed."
Mark - Dec 2024
"Honestly, our second trip to Bay Tree Lodge was just as lovely as the first. Its the perfect spot if you want to relax just before Christmas, especially in winter. The lodge has everything you could possibly need - and then some. The bed is super comfy and the whole place is warm and super cosy, which is just what you need on chilly mornings. We never get tired of the stunning views, especially watching the sunrise on a frosty day. Those little robins pop by and are so friendly! And of course, the hot tub under the stairs on a cold evening is just the best. Were already planning to come back next year!"
Emma - Dec 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, but the bathroom taps could do with updating soon."
Emma Carter - Nov 2024
"We had a lovely, peaceful stay. The place was spotless and comfy, the shower was top-notch and the staff were really friendly too!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was lovely and the hot tub was definitely a highlight."
Mark - Sep 2024
"The lodge was such a peaceful spot, with stunning scenery that instantly relaxed us. The highlight was definitely the hot tub after days out exploring. Wed love to come back!"
Emma - Aug 2024
"We stayed in this lovely 2-bedroom lodge and really enjoyed it. Its super clean, spacious and quite cosy. The Wi-fi was surprisingly good given how remote the place is. The en-suite and bed linen were all ready for us when we arrived, plus fresh towels and slippers for two-nice touch! The kitchen had a dishwasher with tablets and there were recycling bins too. TV reception was a bit patchy sometimes, but overall, a great stay."
Alex - Jul 2024
"Great stay overall! The place was spotless and super quiet. Heating was straightforward if we needed it. Check-in was smooth too."
Alex - Jul 2024
"We had a really lovely stay at this place! The lodges are beautifully maintained and well equipped - especially the towels and bedding. Baytree 2 was perfect for us, so peaceful and just a short drive to Narbeth, Tenby and Saundersfoot. The hot tub was a real treat. Were definitely coming back!"
Emma Carter - May 2024
"We had a lovely stay! The staff were genuinely friendly and made us feel right at home. The lodge was well-equipped with little extras like tea, coffee, biscuits, slippers, toiletries and even dishwasher tablets - really thoughtful touches. Loved the privacy and hot tub, perfect for relaxing without interruptions. Truly a great getaway!"
Emma W. - May 2024
"Comfortable stay, everything was spot on."
James - May 2024
"We had such a relaxing week at Bay Tree Lodge 1! The place was super peaceful, perfect for unwinding day and night. The hot tub was a real highlight, whether we used it in the evening or during the day. Tenby was a quick 20-30 minute drive and we loved dining at Qube-such a lovely spot. A few spiders and woodlice did pop in each night, but honestly, it didnt spoil our stay. Would definitely recommend for a nice little escape!"
Emily Carter - Mar 2024
"We had a fantastic time! The lodge was lovely and cosy, perfect for a last-minute escape. Its rare to find somewhere so relaxing. Definitely coming back soon, couldnt fault it at all!"
Jamie - Jan 2024
"We didnt stay there this year, but Lodge 3 was just as good! Lovely experience."
Emma Carter - Dec 2023
"We stayed at the cabin recently and noticed a few issues. The main bedroom toilet takes forever to refill, which was a bit of a pain. The decking at the front is starting to fall apart and could do with some repair. Also, it would be much easier if there was a set of steps directly down to the hot tub instead of having to walk all the way around the decking and across the gravel. Its a shame because the location is lovely, but these little things need fixing."
Emma Clarke - Dec 2023
"We had such a fantastic time staying here! The lodge is beautifully decorated and super well-equipped with everything we could possibly need. Mornings waking up to the calm and quiet of this place were genuinely special. Watching robins hop about just outside on a chilly morning was a lovely touch. The hot tub was a real highlight, especially on a clear starry night when it was around -2. Honestly, we didnt want to leave - both of us felt a bit down when it was time to go. Its the perfect spot to unwind and escape everything for a bit. Well definitely be booking again soon!"
Emma - Dec 2023
"The lodge really offers great value and we felt instantly comfortable there. The highlight was definitely relaxing in the hot tub-it was so lovely! We only wish we could have used it on the last day. Hopefully, thats something theyll consider for next time."
Emily Carter - Aug 2020
"The lodge was spotless and really cosy. Kitchen had all the modern gadgets youd want. DVDs were there but no player and jigsaws were a mess with pieces mixed in different boxes. No clothes drying rack though!"
Emma - Aug 2020
"The lodge was charming, nestled in a stunning spot. We loved the weather!"
Emma - Aug 2020
"Really enjoyed our stay at Herons Brook, such a charming place with great amenities."
James - Aug 2020
"Excellent accommodation and location for exploring the Pembrokeshire coast"
Michael - Aug 2022
"Third time here and best ever hot tub great staff very helpfull will return"
Gillian - Jul 2022
"Lovely lodge that was spotlessly clean, the whole site is very well maintained. We were a little worried about being on a golf course and lots of golfers wondering around but that didn’t get too busy. Narberth is a nice little town with all the amenities you need however they do tend to be a little pricey. Tenby and Saundersfoot are well worth a visit."
Julie - Jul 2022
"The Harrington lodge was fantastic, in lovely surroundings and the staff were very helpful with local knowledge. We will definitely return again."
Michael - Jul 2022
"Had a great holiday would highly recommend ?"
Tracy - Jul 2022
"beautiful quiet surroundings, the lodge was lovely very clean and well presented. the hot tubs are secluded in woodland settings. a perfect retreet."
Philip - Jul 2022
"Absolutely lovely place staff very friendly cheerful and helpful would defo come back here"
Deb - Jul 2022
"Beautiful lodges so peaceful couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing time. The golf course whilst challenging was not kept very well and I don’t feel guests staying on the site should be expected to pay for the use of"
Jacqueline - Jul 2022
"Very nice and peacful"
