Caistor Lakes Lodges Reviews

"We stayed in Puffin Lodge on Arthur's Lake and the lodge itself was amazing, so clean and very well equipped for self catering as we were, the surroundings were idyllic, peaceful and beautiful. The hot tub was so lovely, and not overlooked so lots of privacy, I'd definitely go back again and will be booking for around the same time next year."
Tracy - Apr 2024

Glen - Mar 2024

Julie - Feb 2024
"Lodge was very goodRestaurant very goodArturs lake was shocking for fishing the amount of blanket weed and algae on the bottom is a massive problem never caught a single fish all week and the one other fisherman on the lake was the same it's a shame because the setting is really nice"
Kevin - Jan 2024
"Nice unit,quiet location."
Neil - Dec 2023
"Where to start with this hidden gem! Check in was seamless and easy to navigate, the lodge was immaculate on arrival with all the info we needed in the lodge. We headed over to the on-site restaurant The Ugly Duckling to see if we could grab a bite to eat (despite not booking a table) as our party met there straight from work, and they fit us in even though they were cleaning and closing down. The food quality was gorgeous, you wouldnt tell we were the last table of the night at all. The staff were fantastic, attentive but not in your face and had a fantastic laugh with our table. We loved it so much we returned for their breakfast. 2 for £18 (10% off if staying in a lodge too!) all with fresh ingredients and lovely quality tea and coffee included. Again different staff from the previous evening but all equally as warm and welcoming. The lodge itself is to a fabulous spec. Super clean, has everything you could ever need and the hot tub setting is just lush. The hosepipe enabled us to top it up all through the weekend and the atmosphere around the lake was just so serene and peaceful, although others were staying close by you couldnt hear them and the placement of the walls/verandas made it so you almost felt as if it was just us and our party. Walking around the grounds my partner and brother in law bumped into the maintenance man and he was great, he talked them all through the lakes, grounds and animals they have. They even met the ground tortoises and had a mini lesson in fish, he was so knowledgable and although busy took time out of his day to really interact with us as guests too. We are already looking to return and just want to say a personal thankyou to all those working the weekend 17-20th November for making it such a memorable weekend for us. Hopefully see you again soon!"
Beth - Nov 2023
"Lodge very comfortable, as the weather was brilliantly hot the air con was a godsend. Beds were very comfortable so a good nights sleep was guaranteed. Only minors were as follows, more cutlery would be beneficial along with a clothes airer to help dry towels after use of the hot tub, and in the bathroom the toilet brushes need replacing as they are rust/dirty which spoils the overall appearance of the en-suit"
Trevor - Nov 2023
"Brilliant place to go. The fishing is excellent"
Antony - Nov 2023
"A lovely welcoming lodge with high ceiling in the living area. Good size bedrooms and ensuite shower rooms. Lovely white fluffy towels and bathrobes. The laundry supplier has changed therefore all nice and new at the moment."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"The radiator fell off the wall at 11:30pm in the bedroom, which woke me up with a Big Bang."
Melanie - Nov 2023
"Lovely lodge , lovely being able to fish from the lodge ( although we didnt catch anything ) excellent food from restaurant delivered on time to the lodge , lovely waking up everyday to view of lake"
Paula - Jul 2023
"Fantastic holiday. Location and facilities exceptional. Including the restaurant who are happy to deliver to your lodge if you prefer. We will definitely be coming again. My husband loved the fishing from our lodge deck and I loved the hot tub."
Andrew - Jul 2023
"Had the father's day meal was amazing, which then led us to try the breakfast that was also amazing"
Peter - Jun 2023
"Great lodge , could be expensive if not booked on a deal"
Michael - Jun 2023
"Everything about the lodge was perfect"
Ruth - May 2023
"Really nice lodge with lovely peaceful surroundings. It doesn't have a parking space next to it, we had totally missed this on the booking site (so our fault for not noticing), just something to make others aware of.The hot tub was fantastic, so lovely to be able to relax in the tub whilst watching the ducks swim by.Only thing that could slightly improve the lodge would be some net curtains or shutters. With curtains open during the day for natural light, everybody can see completely into all the rooms (including bedrooms). Some kind of net curtain would let the light in whilst still retaining a bit of privacy in case you come out of the shower and totally forget the curtains are open!"
Jody - May 2023
"Great Lodge for any anglers. Very Comfortable and Roomy"
Julie - May 2023
"Absolutely perfect in every way ????????"
Katie - Apr 2023
"Overall good could do you have improvement done to make it more suitable for people who have mobility issues. Parking for your cars should be made near to the lodge as walking for some people is difficult. I found the park nice we did not go to the restaurant to eat so can not comment. The staff were helpful and our stay was okay."
Christina - Apr 2023
"Unfortunately the restaurant was closed due to a breakdown. Massive disappointment as we had not taken any food with us. Was really looking forward to eating out each day. Can not fault the accommodation in anyway"
Lorraine - May 2022
"It was that beautiful we have already booked the same lodge for next year"
Sandra - May 2022
"This lodge only gets the sun on the deck in the mornings."
Gillian - May 2022
"Best holiday ever. Osprey Lodge is spotless. Staff are amazing. We will definitely be returning"
Elaine - Jul 2022
"We stayed in the kingfisher it was clean & well equipped, the only thing I will say is the hot tub needs to have a fence down the side where the footpath to make it abit more private."
Jane - Jul 2022
"The overall experience for us, was perfect, we found the location, the atmosphere and the setting just right. If you’re an angler and your main purpose for booking Caistor lakes is predominantly to carp fish, then this might not be the place for you as it’s no runs water. If however you have booked for a relaxing break With the added bonus of being set on a lake and the possibility of catching some stunning fish, then get booking. The lodges are faultless (we stayed in Shearwater on Arthur’s pool) there really wasn’t anything we could suggest needed changing. It really was Home from home with the additional of a beautiful hot tub. The food in the restaurant was 5* the chef really does deserve a pat on the back, yes there are sometimes delays and yes you do need to book. I always see this as a good sign and wouldn’t expect to turn up to a restaurant of this standard and find an available table. Staff were friendly and helpful, everything was explained to us on arrival and again we were warned that the restaurant gets busy and usually needed a booking. If I could suggest anything a little shop with the basics/fresh produce would be ideal."
Samantha - Jul 2022
"Absolutely wicked holiday from start to finish. Lodge 10* immaculate had a brilliant 2 weeks. Fishing excellent lost count of the amount of carp I caught would highly recommend this lodge. Sun is on the lodge all day. Hot tub a must"
David - Jul 2022
"I do think they need to do something with the weed in the lake in my opinion"
Ian - Jul 2022
"Clean and very relaxing"
Simon - Jul 2022
"Second time here, and to be honest gets better each time would recommend this holiday to anyone simply fantastic ... see you next year!!"
David - Jul 2022
"Lovely place would recommend"
Angela - Jun 2022
"Absolutely fantastic"
Ria - Jun 2022
"Great place to stay..beautiful location ?..staff so friendly & helpful?"
Caroline - Jun 2022
"Staff were so friendly and seemed genuinely happy to work there. Wanted peace and quiet which is exactly what we got. Pretty views from lodge, plenty of wildlife and very private hot tub areas, the location of lodges make it so you are not over looked. Only the mattress let it down, would have expected slightly better quality for such luxury accommodation. Enough equipment to cook, lovely rainfall shower and comfortable seating."

The Jungle Zoo - NR31 9EY
about 12 Miles
Centred around a Tropical House in an amazing jungle like setting this is a really unique attraction that will appeal to families.  In the Cleethorpes area of Lincolnshire it's easy to get to and offers a fun yet educational experience.  Referred to as the number one attraction in the area highlights include capuchin monkeys, meerkats, ring tailed lemur and for the children African pygmy goats.  The tropical house features Red Eared and other Terrapins from North America and goldfish amongst other things.  We think The Jungle Zoo represents excellent value for money too.  We recommend a whole day to explore this attraction and ensure you get to see all of the animals resident there.
Pleasure Island - DN35 0PL
about 13 Miles
Wow this is an amazing family theme park and you will probably need the full day to experience it all.  From thrilling rides to family shows, kids of all ages are catered for.  Some of the most popular rides include the Obliterator and The Pendulus, not forgetting the Hypoblaster.   Family shows are entertaining such as the African Acrobat Show which is back by popular demand.  Entrance tickets are good value and if you book online you will receive a discount. To save even more money if you live locally or are visiting the area for a few weeks you could buy a season ticket for around £50 which will allow you entry for the whole season.
Normanby Hall Country Park - DN15 9HU

Normanby Hall Country Park has a fantastically tranquil location Set in the 300 acres of Normanby Hall estate offering a relaxing choice for a family day out. The stunning grounds are abundant with wildlife as well as beautiful flora and fauna and there is no better place for a summer picnic. There is also plenty of open space for children to run around. The Deer park is sure to be a big hit with the children with herds of fallow deer to spot.

The Deep is also home to the world's largest exhibition, featuring weird animals from the depths combined with slime! Educational talks and events take place daily so visitors can learn about the conservation projects which the centre is involved in. There is also a fantastic restaurant over looking some of the displays and a souvenir shop. Family tickets are priced at just £32.00.
Rushmoor Country Park - GU10 1ET

Located in Louth in Lincolnshire this is an ideal attraction when you want to get out in the fresh air and explore. There are many animals to see including ponies and piglets which the little ones love.  There are also some amazing birds from hawks and falcons to owls.  Most aspects of this attraction are included in the admission cost and as well as wandering around you get to hold and feed the animals too.  A real highlight are the micro pigs which are just like real pigs but in miniature.  Fully grown they are around the size of a spaniel!  If you get hungry then you can take your own picnic to the picnic areas or head for the tea room selling delicious food and children's meals too.
Madhyamaka Meditation Centre - LL21 9NG
about 34 Miles
Madhyamaka Meditation Centre  a unique and very special centre in the Yorkshire moors offering amazing meditation experiences for experts and novices. The beautiful setting really ads to the experience and the gorgeous grounds are abundant with wildlife including Squirrels, Deer and Birds including Red Kites. Awarded the Lincolnshire Family Attraction of the Year award in recent years this fun day out is recommended. You can see seals and penguins, as well as other animals in the popular pets corner.  Feeding time for the seals and penguins is the real highlight of the day. Natureland's work with abandoned baby seals has become known worldwide and it's carefully researched rearing and treatment program is now used by many other rescue centres.
