Longnor Wood Holiday Park Reviews

"Great little place if you love walking, we will return"
Alison - Nov 2024
"Absolutely frantic facilities, location is great too, the hot tub was a good added bonus, would highly recommend"
Rose - Oct 2024
"Recently refurbished lodge, very spacious clean & comfortable for a party of 2 with everything you could need. The little log burner certainly provided cosy warmth post hot tub use, though the central heating was sufficient too.The prosecco & chocolates as a welcome gift was a lovely touch."
Verified Guest - Oct 2024
"3rd time back and it didn't disappoint. Lodge had been upgraded (not that it needed it) and the addition of a games room was an added bonus. Peaceful surroundings and a place to sit back and relax."
Chris - Oct 2024
"Had a one bedroom lodge that was big enough for two. Kitchen was very small but well equipped. The only thing that i would suggest for improvement would be to add some hooks as there were none except in the wardrobe. Would be handy for coats and towels. Hot tub was nice a hot. All clean and comfortable"
Clare - Sep 2024
"Absolutely perfect lodge, everything you and your dog needs for a great holiday."
Katie - Sep 2024
"Excellent accommodation. Fully equipped with everything you would need for a short break. The lodge is very well decorated and every room was spotlessly clean. A really nice touch on arrival was the gift of Prosecco and Cadbury's Milk Tray, a lovely surprise. The hot tub was lovely, we used it every day of our stay. We had rain one day and as the hot tub has a cover over it we were able to stay in it whilst the rain fell. The excellent facilities the lodge offered us are too many to mention. I fully recommend Lognor Holiday Park and if all the lodges are as good as the one we stayed in, you cannot fail to have a good time!"
Verified Guest - Aug 2024
"Very lovely place and the staffs are so helpful beautiful place to stay."
Verified Guest - Jun 2024
"Very welcoming on arrival. Very friendly throughout our stay. Amazing location. Lovely walk to the nearby pub - Ye Old Cheshire Inn. The site thought of everything right to the little details. They supplied pretty much everything. They only thing we needed whilst there was wash things for the shower. Lovely and peaceful. We have just booked again for next year. Absolutely perfect."
Gemma - May 2024
"Perfect accomodation and facilities included excellent and well maintained. Personal hotubs added extra special treat. Quiet location, perfect for relaxation."
Andrew - May 2024
"Hot tub cover as its not on a hinge or bracket is very heavy to keep taking off and on again, we really struggled with this as my husband has a very bad back! And we have stayed in many lodges where the cover is on a lever/bracket and is much easier to get off. The shower screen in the bathroom is ridiculously small and it is impossible to have a shower regardless of how careful you are without the floor getting soaked!! This we found very annoying as we had paid for a luxury lodge and with a bigger door on the shower would not have been a problem!! The location is fabulous and very quiet and you are not far from so many places to visit. The extras put in the lodge were also very welcome, teabags, coffee, Prosecco and chocolates ???? But because of the hot tub cover and the lack of a proper shower door we would not stay in that lodge again as you pay a good price for it. Also there should be a small dishwasher as its classed as a luxury lodge"
Pauline - May 2024
"Very easy checkout process, very clear."
Darren - May 2024
"Amazing didnt want to leave. Lodge was beautiful."
Kat - Apr 2024
"Our lodge was brilliant everything you need was in there"
Terence - Mar 2024
"Fabulous hidden gem. Close to a variety of villages and towns. Hot tub great and lodge. Site very well maintained.: Clean tidy and quiet. There's a lovely little pub restaurant in Longnor called ye olde Cheshire cheese inn that serves great food."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"We stayed for 4 nights for Valentines ?? bed was made up with rose petals and surprisingly had a bottle champagne and box chocolates waiting. Was lovely and peaceful. Tub was nice Lodge nice . Bed comfy . Was nice to have a washing machine /dryer in lodge . The guy at reception was polite and friendly Lovely to see the wild baby rabbits and squirrels running around . Would definitely book again in summer as scenery at Peak District is amazing ????"
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"Stayed here over the Christmas period. Lovely lodge, everything you need to cook etc. Really nice touch of leaving milk, chocolates and fizz in the fridge. Rules are in place where you have to be out of your hot tub right on 11pm. As they come around and close it off for you. Hot tub was great especially with the cover stand over it as we had awful weather and we still could be in it. Bathroom could do with some TLC and no blinds in the bathroom or kitchen. Overall the area was lovely and peaceful and highly recommend it to others."
Eleanor - Jan 2024
"Absolutely loved our break over Xmas. It was warm clean and the bed was so comfortable. The hot tub was amazingwe used it a lotchilling on Xmas day!The park is far enough out to give u peace and quiet but not to far to walk to Longnor, to the pub or store. They gave us a Xmas tree,a box of milk tray and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge.a lovely touch. Would defo recommend"
Fiona - Dec 2023
"Lovely quiet site.Great facilities and very dog friendly.Friendly staff."
Natasha - Dec 2023
"Excellent weekend. Lodge and hot tub were superb in every way . Longnor Wood have always provided us with a great getaway in a beautiful location long may it continue ????????"
Steve - Nov 2023
"We had a fantastic stay, once again at Longnor Wood. Lovely and clean lodges with everything you need, the dog treats and prosecco were a nice touch. We went over bonfire night weekend and had a lovely peaceful evening away from the fireworksand the added bonus of being away from light pollution meant we were lucky enough to spend an hour watching the northern lights! Theyve got everything you could want/need for a peaceful weekend away. We will absolutely be returning in future!"
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Superb lodge in an excellent location, such a peaceful site , lodge has everything you needed, would definitely recommend a stay here"
Chris - Nov 2023
"The lodge was very nice and spacious. It had everything you needed and it was a pleasant surprise to find some milk and a bottle of fizz in the fridge on arrival. When I booked the lodge it did say that the second bedroom could be made up as 2 single beds but when I phoned before hand to check something I was told that both rooms had king-size beds in which meant my daughter and I had to share a bed (not ideal as we both adults). The site is lovely and quiet but you have to be prepared for the twisty roads and a drive if you want to go out for a meal at night. Overall a great break away."
Lisa - Nov 2023
"This was the most amazing lodge we have ever stayed in."
Phil - Nov 2023
"Lovely welcome from the really friendly, knowledgeable staff. We were made to feel welcome right from the start up until our last day. The lodge was really well equipped and the hot tub lovely."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"if you want quiet you will get it here, bar some infrequent traffic on the path into Manchester airport which is barely noticeable.actually had the best sleep weve had in years here. enjoyed watching squirrels, rabbits and a good variety of birds up close.well equipped lodge and comfortable beds.Tuesday night chippy run undertaken the staff is great and they dont even charge extra for the service.oh and a bottle of fizz in the fridge, biscuits and loads of tea and coffee and milk await.and free wifi from Skylink. modern tech in the middle of nowhere.my only quibble is the hot tub only went up to 39 degrees, but at least it was undercover when it rained so kind of made up for it."
Mark - Jul 2023
"Lodge was great, very spacious and clean. Everything u needed was there including a washing machine and even the oven trays were pre-linned!"

Lorna - Jul 2022
"Park is very good and well maintained."
EWAN - Jul 2022
"Lovely quiet site in a beautiful area. The lodge was well equipped and spacious. The site staff were accommodating and a housekeeper showed us around the lodge on arrival. There was a problem with the bed being made up as a double instead of 2 singles, but they sorted this out within 30 mins for us. The site loaned us a BBQ at no charge, which I thought was generous as it was gas powered and some cost would be incurred by them. There is a small shop on site in reception where you can get some essentials and ice cream, and there is an information point with lots of leaflets and DVDs. There are a few areas which could be improved. The ensuite shower in our lodge was dire - very little pressure. There was also a bit of a noise in the bedroom from either the boiler or water pipes on the wall behind the bed. Also the site should really consider providing free and unlimited wi-fi site wide or at least to the lodges that have paid a hefty price. We have stayed in numerous lodges (often in remote areas) over the years and it pretty much is the norm to have wifi and streaming/netflix in them now."
Kathryn - Jul 2022
"Fab holiday. Well equipped Lodge and extremely helpful staff"
Margaret - Jul 2022
"We had a great two weeks here at Longnor. The staff were really friendly, helpful and shared local information on arrival as well. The Caravan was fantastic - so nice to have more space in bedroom and loads of storage space. We spent most of the time walking and cycling in the local area and then came back to relax in the hot tub at the end of the day. A really quiet site which was just what we wanted."

Alton Towers - ST10 4DB

Of course you can't mention attractions in Staffordshire without featuring the fabulous Alton Towers theme park.  The rides range from thrilling to quite simply terrifying although there are more gentle family rides for the little ones.  All ages are catered for here.  Some of the most famoue rides include Th13teen, Air, The Blade and Nemesis.  There is also a waterpark on site for some splashtastic fun. Gullivers Kingdom - DE4 3NT
about 14 Miles
This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.
Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT
about 14 Miles
This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.
Gulliver's Kingdome - WA5 9YZ
about 14 Miles
Gulliver's Kingdome is a family friendly theme park offering many attractions for children of all ages. The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. For the little ones there are rides such as the veteran cars and the balloon wheel and Diego and Dora the Explorer are on hand to make sure they are having a great time. Between the 21st and 31st of October the park becomes a spooky Halloween spectacular with a range of shows and fireworks to enjoy. Standard prices are £12.00 for adults and children over 90cm. Group booking discounts are available.
Denby Visitor Centre - DE5 8NX

British Wildlife Rescue Centre - TN8 7AR
about 22 Miles
This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre.  The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild.  Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA.  Visit their website to see the picture gallery and to find out how to help if this is something which interests you.  There are also regular fundraising events such as the Sponsered Leg Wax.
Crazy Crocodiles Indoor Play & Party Centre - LL30 1DR
about 27 Miles
This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire.  With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children.  The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families.  Look out for offers on their website such as a free hot drink on select days.
Rosliston Forestry Centre - DE12 8JX
about 30 Miles
Rosliston Forestry Centre is a beautiful woodland site with tranquil areas for Fishing as well as some beautiful meadows and a lake. For children there is a Play Area to run around on and during school holidays organised activities such as range led walks are available. Other available events taking place this year include an Archery drop in session, a Christmas Crafting Afternoon and a Mince Pie and Mulled Wine Walk.
Go Ape Cheshire - WA16 6RW
about 32 Miles
Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
Gulliver's World Theme Park - WA5 9YZ

This is a very popular theme park with three different locations.  The theme park in Warrington contains not only the theme park but also Gullivers Splash Zone and Gullivers Star Studios.  The Solash Zone is a fully heated indoor water play factory fun for all ages which will appeal on rainy days.  Throughout the year there are seasonal events too such as the Halloween and Fireworks event taking place from 23rd to 31st October.  You can book online to save time and secure your tickets during busy periods.  Over 50% of the rides are actually under cover so you don't need to worry about the British weather spoiling the fun.

When you are in need of a rest head for the The Hungry Shepherd Tea Room where you can enjoy a bite to eat and children can burn even more energy in the indoor play area.
