Dovestone Holiday Park Reviews

"Our pooch had a fab break out over in Dovestone - he liked his extra long walks around the reservoirs, and cosying up in a pub or in the lodge later on in the evening."
Sam - Nov 2024
"We had a lovely relaxing and peaceful stay. The staff team were very welcoming and helpful. The pods had everything we needed for a short break. They were also very cosy and warm in this cold weather! Gorgeous hikes nearby! Highly recommend."
Sita - Nov 2024
"Wonderful location, adequate camping pod, and wonderful peace and quiet.Only thing Id suggest is that the bed is of average comfort and not sure I could do a full week which is a shame, plus would be good to have a toaster but other than that, great setting, cozy and warm, nice bedding but towels for midgets ;-) Would definitely rebook though. Thanks"
Karen - Sep 2024
"Will definitely be back here"
Deborah - Sep 2024
"I recently enjoyed a wonderful 4-night stay at Dovestone Holiday Park, and I couldnt have asked for a better getaway. Nestled in the breathtaking countryside, the park is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and excellent service. The park itself is beautifully maintained, with clean, modern facilities and a peaceful atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at ease. Our accommodation was spotless and comfortable, with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. One of the highlights of our visit was the stunning scenery. The park is surrounded by picturesque landscapes, with plenty of walking trails and outdoor activities to enjoy. Whether youre an avid hiker or just want to take in the natural beauty, Dovestone offers something for everyone. We particularly enjoyed the short walk to Dovestone Reservoir, where the views were simply breathtaking. The location is also ideal for exploring the wider area. We took day trips to nearby villages and enjoyed some fantastic local dining options. However, it was always a pleasure to return to the tranquility of the park.Overall, our stay at Dovestone Holiday Park was everything we hoped for and more. Its a hidden gem that offers the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. We left feeling refreshed and recharged, and we cant wait to return!"
Louise - Aug 2024
"Beautiful location and really impressed with the size of the pods and the facilities within the pod and outside the pods"
Liane - Aug 2024
"Everything was great, some things were slightly worn, however, I'm guessing the cabin has been used alot. Being a dog friendly cabin there was no trace of previous animals when I arrived. Very peaceful and the hot tub was around the back in No.7. Felt very private."
Steph - Feb 2024
"Ideal if you want a quiet holiday and enjoy walking. The Nest pod provides good, clean, warm, cosy, basic accommodation. You only get a microwave and hob but there is a TV. Staying in a pod is a novelty in itself"
Robert - Feb 2024
"Great cottage size and facilties."
Steve - Feb 2024
"Excellent location and lovely cottage"
Verified Guest - Dec 2023
"The cottage was so much bigger and more modern than ever expected or hoped for! The location was beautiful and we couldnt have had a better time away. The one thing we would change is the road to the cottage with large pot holes. However this was the only negative thing to be said; the holiday was perfect!"
Rachel - Dec 2023
"Nice lodge Some little issues that staff tried to resolve and did with the majority of issues.Lodge was roomy, nice Christmas tree In the lounge with a lovely location.Hot tub wasnt really hot enough even by 10pm first night."
Sarah - Dec 2023
"Stayed here for work great location very quiet & pod was great very clean has everything you need."
Hey - Dec 2023

Julie - Mar 2020
"Accommodation was very clean. Surrounding area picturesque and great for walking. The Clarence pub was around a 10 minute walk away and food and staff were superb, highly recommended."
Karen - Mar 2020
"Fab time. We did get upgraded from a pod to lodge due to our shower blocking. So had a lovely weekend. As I believe we would have if we were in the pod! Would deffo return back!"
Ashleigh - Jan 2020
"Accommodation was spacious clean homely"
Gaynor - Jan 2020
"Spent the weekend at Dovestone lodges last week and had the perfect break. Lodge and hot tub 5 and just perfect after a walk around the reservoir. Pods very basic but also perfect if you take your own bedding and pots/pans. We hadnt seen the pots and pans bit on the website so bit stuck as couldnt even make a cup of tea. Hence we upgraded. Staff amazing and so helpful, we would definitely recommend and hopefully return in the very near future. Thank you for the lovely welcome you gave us!"
Allison - Jan 2020
"Would definitely return"
Lewis - Jan 2020
"Most comfortable beds ever"
Sandra - Nov 2019
"Everything was lovely, however we went on a very wet weekend in November so decking was very slippy and extremely dangerous, 2 guests actually fell one really hurt her back and twisted her knee. Maybe that needs to be looked at being replaced. Other than that everything was fantastic, will definitely be booking again "
Hayley - Nov 2019
"2nd time we've been in October, would like to try in summer so we can make more use of hot tub and patio area."
Alison - Oct 2019
"This was my 3rd time staying here (twice in a pod) and I love it. The pods are great- we've been glamping to other places and I'm not keen on having to use communal bathrooms and kitchens so having your own is amazing. As for the location, it's perfect. Walk one way and you're on the reservoir, the other way and you are at the pub. Will definitely be back!"
Louise - Aug 2022
"Excellent weekend retreat. The pods were cosy and warm. Very peaceful, time to think in very nice surroundings"
Roger - Jul 2022
"Great customer service from start to end, I had made an error in booking and the staff at Dovestone rectified this for me with no charge and were very helpful, the lady on reception was fantastic and was very helpful. The park provide you with a book of things nearby which is great and there are security staff on site which are friendly and great with our barky dog! Fantastic service and lovely place, shower was fantastic and pod was clean and tidy and just what was needed. Would definitely recommend!"
Rosie - Jul 2022
"The place was so serene and idyllic. Great views and the weather was just perfect!"
Flora - Jun 2022
"We had a lovely stay at dovestone over the bank holiday weekend. The view of the little lake when we opened the door of our pod on a sunny morning was just fab. My two boys enjoyed feeding the ducks and had space to play ball games with other children on the site. The reservoir was great to walk around and the views from the mountain were just gorgeous. There are plenty of walks around. The only addition to the site would be a little play area for the children (swings etc). Other than that we loved it."
Hannah - May 2022
"Lovely location, had an relaxing weekend. Will book again."
Lian - May 2022
"Wonderful four night break at this cosy retreat. Comfortable, well equipped cabin with a great hot tub. Within walking distance of beautiful scenery and walks and a good pub down the road. Great customer care with friendly helpful staff ."
Beverley - May 2022
"A lovely quiet site next to some beautiful countryside and reservoir walks I cannot believe this site isn’t fully booked !"
Julie - May 2022
"Would definitely book again, absolutely loved it."
Michelle - Apr 2022
"Awesome short break - fabulous location with many walks straight from the door. Lovely village within walking distance with a great pub (The Clarence) and a massive Tescos. Lodge had everything we needed and the hot tub was most welcome."
Suzanne - Apr 2022
"Lovely, helpful staff and great setting for a relaxing time. Nice and quiet and security at night to stop noise pollution and selfish people spoiling it for others. Would recommend and we will be revisiting."
Neil - Apr 2022
"A perfect place to enjoy some chill time. Great lodge with hot tub, close to lovely walks. Even when raining it looked beautiful. Staff were super helpful."

Peak District National Park -

The Peak District National Park is the ideal place to relax and explore.  The stunning scenery will take your breath away and there is the opportunity to take part in ranger led guides and events.  These are ideal if you are new to the area or only staying a short time and want to see the best sights and walks.
Gulliver's World Theme Park - WA5 9YZ
about 27 Miles
This is a very popular theme park with three different locations.  The theme park in Warrington contains not only the theme park but also Gullivers Splash Zone and Gullivers Star Studios.  The Solash Zone is a fully heated indoor water play factory fun for all ages which will appeal on rainy days.  Throughout the year there are seasonal events too such as the Halloween and Fireworks event taking place from 23rd to 31st October.  You can book online to save time and secure your tickets during busy periods.  Over 50% of the rides are actually under cover so you don't need to worry about the British weather spoiling the fun.
Xscape Castleford - WF10 4TA
about 29 Miles
Located in the Castleford area of West Yorkshire this is a fun family day out with loads of activities under one roof.   For the energetic there is a real snow slop for skiing and rock climbing walls.  For the more laid back then there is a cinema and bowling alley.  This place caters for all ages and there are seasonal events on throughout the year too. This attraction is described on their website as the "Ultimate Entertainment Destination " so why not check out their site for the latest admission costs and opening times?
Gullivers Kingdom - DE4 3NT
about 33 Miles
This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.
Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT
about 33 Miles
This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.

Go Ape Cheshire - WA16 6RW

Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
