Solway Holiday Village Reviews

"The caravan was really comfortable and clean, plus we loved how close it was to everything. Definitely recommend!"
Emma Turner - Nov 2024
"The chalet was a bit run down, honestly. The microwave barely worked and there was no wifi, which was frustrating. We were hoping for a more comfortable stay, but it felt like it needed some serious TLC. Still, it was okay for a short trip, but dont expect anything fancy. Wouldnt stay again without improvements."
James - Nov 2024
"Great value for money, but dont forget to bring your own towels! Definitely recommend."
Emma - Oct 2024
"Nice place, would visit again"
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"Our Solway Holiday Village review: We stayed there and faced some issues. One room had no heating even after reporting it, which was frustrating. The hot water was boiling at first, then suddenly just warm. Also, no vacuum or cleaning supplies were available. Not great."
Emma Carter - Sep 2024
"Honestly, our stay was pretty average all round. Theres not much to do nearby, so youve really got to drive at least an hour just to find somewhere interesting for the day. The onsite amenities like the swimming pool, shop, bar and arcades are handy but nothing special. The lodge itself was a bit of a letdown - pretty basic and could really do with some cosy touches like pictures, mirrors, or cushions to make it feel a bit more homely. No towels were provided for the shower and the bath was pretty grimy with mould and a mucky plug hole. Skirting boards were dirty and the kitchen floor had a rip. The curtain pole in the kitchen was wonky and there were stains on the walls, ceilings and carpet. Its not terrible, just an average stay - probably wouldnt come back since theres not much to do in the area anyway."
Emily - Sep 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the caravan was cosy with super comfy beds. Perfect spot behind reception, very tidy. Loved it!"
Emma - Sep 2024
"Great staff, lovely spot indeed"
Emma Clarke - Aug 2024
"Really cozy"
Emma - Aug 2024
"We recently stayed in this caravan and absolutely loved it! Plenty of space for our family of four, with two bathrooms which was a lifesaver. The showers were really good and the sitting area felt so cosy. The kitchens top-notch, especially the cooker - made cooking a real pleasure. Definitely felt like a home away from home!"
Emma Roberts - Aug 2024
"Honestly, our stay was pretty disappointing. We arrived on Monday and found the hot tub was out of order. The chalet was moved on the Friday, which was a bit of a surprise, especially with an autistic son, a tiny baby and my own disability. When we moved, all the electrics tripped and at 6am, the baby was crying for a bottle with no way to make it. We werent told about the power outages and the smell from the drainage pipes was awful - flies everywhere. Not what we expected at all!"
Emma Carter - Aug 2024
"The mattress felt cheap, I could really feel every spring through it. Not great."
Emma Carter - Aug 2024
"We honestly loved the caravan! It was spotless and everything felt quite modern. The little touches like the box with washing up essentials and shower gel made a difference. Definitely recommending it!"
Sarah - Aug 2024
"The chalet was spotless and cosy, really enjoyed the hot tub!"
Emma - Jul 2024
"We really enjoyed the caravan - it was modern, spotless and had a great layout. The facilities were spot on. Only thing is, the beds felt a bit cheap; if you sat on the end, theyd lift up. Also, missing lamps meant no cosy lighting at night. Still, a lovely stay overall!"
Emma Carter - Jul 2024
"We stayed in this caravan recently and honestly, we were quite impressed. Its modern, very clean and the fridge and freezer are massive - perfect for a big family. The beds are a good length and wider than usual, which was a nice surprise. The only thing missing was an iron and board. Overall, a great stay!"
Emma J. - Jul 2024
"Great service, highly recommend"
Daniel - Jun 2024
"The van was spotless and we really appreciated how clean everything was, especially the furniture and kitchen. It was a bit warm at night, so some extra sheets would have been handy, but overall, a good experience!"
Alex - Jun 2024
"The lodge was perfect, especially enjoyed the hot tub after a day at the beach. Lovely stay!"
Sarah J. - Jun 2024
"Great caravan, super clean and the TV's a decent size too!"
Sam - Jun 2024
"The chalet was okay, but the bath drainage was terrible and no towels like they said. Not great really."
Emma Carter - Jun 2024
"We had a really relaxing stay here. The park is so self-contained, you barely need to leave unless you want to explore more. Everything was spotless and we didnt see any litter at all during our visit."
Emily - Jun 2024
"Not worth the hassle, honestly."
Emma - Jun 2024
"Good van, but duvet was a bit small"
Emma Clarke - Jun 2024
"The hot tub lights don't work and the doors are falling apart."
Emma Carter - Jun 2024
"We recently ordered a new cooker because our old one lacked an ignition button, which was frustrating. Also, the mattress in the main bedroom is too low, making it tricky for disabled folks to get comfortable. Not ideal!"
Emma - May 2024
"We managed to snag a pretty good deal on a Gold 3 select caravan during Easter, which was great value. The park itself is quite small, but honestly, that can be a plus - it felt cosy and manageable. Some of the other vans looked quite battered, but ours was quite nice inside. The seating was a bit of a pain for me, the sofa dipped and was quite deep, making it tricky to get up easily. There was also a socket in the main bedroom with a plug pin lodged in it, which we reported but it wasnt sorted during our stay. The car parking area beside the van flooded quite badly in the rain, water was past the bottom of my tyre - again, reported but left untouched. Understandably, the rain was heavy, but other vans didnt seem to have the same issue. The staff were lovely and the food was really tasty. Honestly, I dont think well be back though - its a bit too far from anywhere to visit regularly, which is a shame."
Emma - Apr 2024
"The chalet had everything we needed, though a few kitchen bits looked a bit tired. Beds were comfy and linen was spotless. Overall, good stay!"
Emma - Apr 2024
"Me and my family had a lovely weekend, chalet was lovely loads of space very clean and close to club house staff were all lovely and very helpfull"
Kym - Nov 2022
"3rd visit and have to say we have always had a lovely stay, clean and comfortable, i know the chalets are in the process of upgrading so looking forward to seeing them next time. we could see a difference around the park as well including the indoor pool. i heard that the whole reception area inc pub, pool etc is being knocked down to make way for brand new amenities. the area is totally flat with lovely greens and long prom to enjoy walks and great for dogs if you have them. the town itself is an old victorian seaside with cobbled main road and a handful of shops, bars and takeaways but with easy access to the lakes and towns, happy days, will return"

Attractions Near Solway Holiday Village

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Solway Holiday Village. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 14 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 14 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 17 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Castle Douglas - DG7 1TJ
about 22 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 28 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 33 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Laggan Outdoor - DG7 3NQ
about 35 Miles

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 39 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
