Chestnut Meadow Reviews

"Absolutely stunned at how big this lodge was, everything you need. Bed was so comfy could have slept in it all day. Very warm, very modern and has everything you need for a great break away, hot tub was great but was hoping for a bit more privacy but didnt spoil it."
JODI - Feb 2024
"Absolutely beautiful lodge was immaculately clean and so luxurious! Lady who checked us in was very friendly and showed us everything we needed / how hot tub worked etc. We stayed over Christmas and had the most wonderful and relaxing break even with 3 young children! Will Absolutely be returning."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"The only disappointment was the hot tub. It was positioned too close to the fence and therefore it was difficult to pull the cover off. You had to squeeze sideways between the fence and the tub and it was muddy underfoot . ( lodge 17)."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"The lodge was fantastic. It looked fresh out of the factory. Barely a mark or a scuff. Looked high end and the roll top bath was glorious. We also had plenty of space inside and outside of the lodge. Only negative was pet owners werent allowed a hot tub option. Couldnt understand why? Also, there wasnt any staff to be seen. Most campsites have people cleaning tiolets, manning reception, and attending to the grass, etc. I only noticed the shop and reception open briefly. Having said all that the lodge and camp was fantasy so perhaps theres lots of staff working in the small hours. Lovely"

"A very clean, well equipped, comfortable lodge. The hot tub was very well appreciated. A washing machine would be a useful addition. We had a very relaxing festive break."

Tracy - Jan 1970
"The lodge was excellent"
Pauline - Jan 1970
"Brilliant & cosy cottage far enough out the way to be secluded but close enough to local amenities. Amazing hotub & bathroom with underfloor heating throughout tops it off. The owners, Rob & Sharon are wonderful! (And of course Bonnie) Will definitely be coming back again for longer ASAP!!"
Christopher - Nov 2024
"Beautiful cottage with hot tub and log burner. lovely hosts, peaceful, perfect for our mini break. Hope to return for longer soon!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"Really well equipped house, lovely and warm too which was so nice on a rainy December day! Bath was just lovely and a nice big shower! The property is under a flight path - this did not disturb us at all! Dont be put off! A great location for dogs who hate fireworks as it's in the middle of nowhere. Really beautiful, well converted property. Thank you! "
Phoebe - Nov 2024
"It was everything we wanted for our weekend away and we loved staying here. We'll definitely be back! Our pups absolutely loved the underfloor heating and had so much fun in the garden. In fact Luna came home with a strained tail and according to the vet it was because she was wagging it so much over the weekend!! Very happy pups and hoomans!"
Andrew - Nov 2024
"Lovely cottage. Great location for us. Away from the hustle and bustle. Great hot tub . Lovely helpful non intrusive owners. They have it just right!"
Simon - Nov 2024
"Absolutely loved how well maintained and equipped this cottage is. Plenty of dog walks right on the doorstep. Very friendly host, they were so efficient and communication was excellent. We enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm and the very curious pig penelope. Perfect escape for us and the doggos. Will definitely be back, brilliant value!! Highly recommend. "
Brooke - Nov 2024
"Beautiful property, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable, had a fabulous break, hot tub amazing x"
Libby - Nov 2024
"Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. Charming half-timbered cottage with a great strong shower, cosy kitchen & living room combination and very comfortable bed. Fantastic parking directly next to the rented cottage. Well heated and very charming, and spotlessly clean. Great walks across the fields to the local village of Thaxted and of course within easy travelling distance of the village, replete with half-timbered houses and windmill. "
James - Nov 2024
"We had a wonderful time in Goddard Mead. The cottage was very complete and there were walks on the doorstep. The welcome and stay was very warm. The owners are lovely people."
Annemieke - Nov 2024
"The owners Rob & Sharon, have gone to a great deal of work to sympathetically convert this historic building & we couldn't have had a warmer greeting from them both & of course Bonnie. Goddard's Mead has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The location is in a great area of Essex and would recommend taking the time to wander around Thaxted and other villages/towns nearby to discover it's fascinating history & buildings. "
Carol - Nov 2024
"Such a lovely place to stay in a really beautiful, private location. The owners were really friendly and helpful, nearby if needed but without breaking that sense of privacy. The hot tub was perfect after a day of cycling! One thing to be aware of, the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, and so there's a lot of aircraft noise. It only took us a couple of hours to get used to it and it didn't spoil our holiday at all, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive to noise. "
Inderjit - Nov 2024
"The lovely cottage is situated on a working farm, but is very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are delightful. The cottage is very spacious with good equipment in the kitchen and the bathroom. The bed is really comfortable. The garden is secluded; dog proof and with good furniture. There are numerous walks around. Thaxted has good restaurants. We liked The Star and The Maypole. The Swan and the Indian are not bad either. We thoroughly recommend this place. "
Richard - Nov 2024
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Sharon and Robert were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation had everything we needed and was clean, comfortable and secure for our dog Archie. The location was ideal too with plenty of walks to find and Thaxted and surrounding villages are lovely places to visit. We felt our batteries had certainly been recharged during our week and we enjoyed our relaxing break! "
Denise - Nov 2024
"Stayed here for a week from 15 to 22 July with our 2 mini daschund girls who thoroughly enjoyed there stay making new friends in the village of thaxted. The cottage is lovely especially the hot tub a bonus as it was the hottest days of the year so the water was coolled so it was more refreshing the hosts were very welcoming was nice to see there horses being taken to the fields each day you are on the flight path near stansted but I enjoyed watching the planes come in would definitely recommend "
Sharon - Nov 2024
"Lovely accommodation, very peaceful and relaxing and great for dogs as the garden is fully inclosed"
Fleur - Nov 2024
"Had such a lovely, relaxing break. Cottage was immaculate, equipped with everything you need and some lovely added extras too. Couldnt recommended more"
Antonia - Nov 2024
"Had a lovely weekend away staying here. Would love to come back later on in the year."
Rachel - Nov 2024
"Lovely friendly owners. Couldnt do enough when the power went down due to the storm. Very well equipped and clean. Very warm cottage. Our dog enjoyed the enclosed outside space and us the hot tub!"
Penny - Nov 2024
"Perfect venue for a quiet break away. Sharon and Robert have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Although this was our second visit it definitely will not be our last."
Georgina - Nov 2024
"An amazing accommodation in side and great hot tub. The location of the neighbours cabins are rather close tho."
Donald - Aug 2022
"Was very nice to spend our family holiday here. Definitely we will come back."
Kristine - Aug 2022
"This was our first visit to Chestnut Meadow. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again soon. It is a very clean well managed peaceful gated site mostly surrounded by trees. Eighteen of the twenty two lodges on the site are finished. They are nicely spaced out, each with adjacent parking for two vehicles. The management and staff are very helpful. There is a small shop on the site, but stock is limited. Each lodge has 100mbps fibre broadband however the firewall restricts access to some sites. The site is within 6 miles of a good supermarket and within 8 miles of Hastings."
Raymond - Jul 2022
"I visited the lodge with my family including small children and feel like the lodge was perfect! It was very spacious, had good sized rooms and was very clean. One of the issues for me personally was the hot water was set to a certain temperature so couldn’t have a hot, hot shower but was warm enough! Also note there is no iron or hoover to clean. We were provided with a broom but this was broken and the staff explained it couldn’t be replaced as there were no more available. The hot tub was amazing and was cleaned daily. Remember to bring additional towels if using the hot tub! I would definitely recommend despite the minor issues explained above."
Sharla - Jun 2022
"It was our first time holidaying here we will definitely return. Couldn’t fault accommodation or facilities."
David - Apr 2022
"Pristine lodge. Quiet area. Great hot tub."
Jemena - Apr 2022
"What a lovely place. Very clean and would definitely book again"
Tracy - Jan 2022
"Beautiful clean very luxurious lodge peaceful and quiet location"
Tina - Jan 2022
"Nice holiday, very clean. Could have been a 10 if we had more towels, hangers, l understand there’s Covid-19 but check out time is very early."
Precious - Dec 2021
"New park lodge was fantastic on site shop needs to improve some more regular items on the shelves would help"
Alison - Oct 2021
"Absolutely beautiful lodge spotlessly clean and so peaceful. Hot tub was brilliant. A very relaxing stay. The only thing it’s lacking in my opinion is a washing machine and hair dryer. But honestly the accommodation is simply amazing."
