Romansleigh Retreat Reviews

"The lodge looked lovely, but the beds were quite noisy and not the comfiest. Everything else was spot on, especially if you love cooking at home."
George - Apr 2024
"Really enjoyed the stay, will come back!"
Emma - Apr 2024
"The apartment was really lovely, super clean and had everything we needed. The decor was simple but nice and everything was in good condition. Wed stay again!"
Mark - Apr 2024
"Really enjoyed the experience overall"
Emily Carter - Mar 2024
"Our Romansleigh Retreat review: We had a fantastic 4-night getaway and staff really made us feel welcome and cared for."
Emma Carter - Mar 2024
"We just got back from a weekend at Romansleigh retreat for my 50th birthday and honestly, it was lovely. The place was spotless, way cleaner than other spots we've stayed at and the hot tub was spot on - warm and well-maintained, which is such a relief since we've been disappointed elsewhere. The location isnt super secluded during busy times, but that didnt bother us because most of the other lodges nearby were empty. The facilities are pretty basic, but the games room was fun, especially for our little ones, even if we couldnt get the pool table to work - no one around to help, but its no biggie. Plenty to explore in the area and we even had a chat with the friendly farmer next door. Just a heads up, the private road signage is a must - lots of folks seem to miss it and walk up the lane with dogs, which can be a bit annoying. Overall, a lovely break in beautiful surroundings!"
Emma - Mar 2024
"Beautiful location, peaceful and calm, but the remote access was really tricky."
Emma Carter - Mar 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay here. The peaceful setting with lovely views was perfect. The lodges were spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a bonus and the games room kept the kids entertained for ages. Definitely recommend!"
Emma - Feb 2024
"The lodge was pretty much perfect for us. Comfortable beds and all the essentials. Only gripe was the hot tub being cold on a couple of days, bit disappointing. Still, lovely stay!"
Emma - Feb 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at the resort. The lodge was spotless and spacious and the hot tub was just perfect - clean with warm water. Definitely recommend this place to anyone!"
Emma Roberts - Jan 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The views were absolutely stunning and the hot tub was a lovely touch. The place was spotless and had everything we needed. The bed was a bit firm for our liking, but thats just personal preference. Its close to shops and pubs too. Would come back!"
Emma - Jan 2024
"Very comfy stay, loved the spacious and spotless rooms."
Emma Carter - Jan 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay, especially the lovely walking areas for our dog. The unit itself was great, though we did notice some marks on the walls compared to last year. Heard the place is in administration now, so understandable if the upkeeps a bit missed. Fingers crossed it keeps going strong!"
Emma Carter - Jan 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay! The staff were super friendly and the grounds are lovely. Great location, well signposted, but narrow lanes can be tricky."
Emily Carter - Dec 2023
"We had a lovely stay at the lodge! The place was spotless and bringing our dogs along was no problem at all. The staff were super friendly and helpful, always ready with tips or assistance. The hot tub was just right and the grounds made for some nice walks with our pups. Thanks a lot, team!"
Sam - Dec 2023
"The staff greeted us with smiles and made us feel really welcome right from the start. They were super helpful when showing us around the lodge and explaining how everything worked. The lodge itself was spotless and looked after beautifully, really high standards. The setting was stunning-so peaceful and perfect for a relaxing break. Were definitely planning to return in May for our anniversary. Would recommend to anyone!"
Mark - Dec 2023
"Really appreciated how spotless and well-organised everything was, plus the bath and shower were fab! Definitely recommend."
Emma - Nov 2023
"Sadly, the weather was terrible and there was really nothing to do."
Emma Carter - Nov 2023
"Definitely time for some new cooking pots. Theyre starting to look a bit battered, and honestly, they dont cook as well anymore. Weve had them for ages, so its probably about due for an upgrade. Wouldve been nice if they lasted longer, but I guess everything wears out eventually. Still, Id recommend shopping around for better ones. They could really do with a refresh, especially if youre into your cooking!"
Emma Roberts - Nov 2023
"Our stay at Romesleigh Retreat was truly enjoyable! The hosts were so welcoming and gave great tips on dog-friendly beaches. The treats for our pup were a lovely touch. Were already planning our next visit-cant wait to return! Great place overall."
Emma - Nov 2023
"Overall, the place was pretty nice and spotless, especially for a dog-friendly spot. The only downsides were the smell from the hoover and the freezer not working properly, which was a bit annoying."
James - Jun 2023
"Absolutely loved every bit of our holiday, can't wait to come back!"
Emma - Aug 2020
"We had a really lovely stay. The lodge was spotless and peaceful, just what we needed. Plenty of charming villages nearby to explore and a short drive to keep busy. Perfect for unwinding away from the busy city."
Emma - Aug 2020
"We stayed in Apartment 4 and found it surprisingly spacious for just the two of us, which was a bonus. The place is modern and spotlessly clean, plus the bed was super comfy-definitely a good night's sleep! The views are truly stunning, especially during sunset, although we did struggle to find the Juliet balcony at first and the windows couldve done with a clean, which was a bit of a shame given the scenery. The listing mentioned a washing machine, but it wasnt there, though the site manager did warn us about this beforeh and. No microwave either, but once we mentioned it, one was quickly installed. We also had to ask for oven gloves, as there werent any provided. The location is perfect if youre after peace and quiet; its so remote, all we could hear were cows and a cockerel-lovely! Evening walks around the grounds were lovely and watching the sunset was a real highlight. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Wed definitely come back, maybe try one of the lodges next time!"
Alex - Aug 2020
"Beautiful spot for a relaxing holiday, perfect for exploring Devon!"
Emma - Aug 2020
"We found the apartment just as it appeared in the photos when we booked. It was spotless and had all the essentials like an oven, hob, microwave, kettle and dishwasher. The only downside was the lack of Wi-Fi and weak signal, but honestly, that suited us since its perfect for a peaceful getaway. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Apartment 2 and would definitely recommend it to others looking for a quiet retreat!"
Oliver Thompson - Aug 2020
"Really enjoyed our stay, just a couple of small things like a bin and bath mat needed."
Emma - Aug 2020
"The place is pretty good, but its a bit pricey because of where its located. Travel costs add up!"
Oliver - Jul 2020
"We had a lovely time overall. Its been ages since we did self-catering, so that was a nice change. Only thing is, the bed really needs replacing - it was quite wobbly and squeaky, which was a bit annoying!"
Emma - Jul 2020
"Charming place, would definitely return!"
Emma - Jul 2020
"Very peaceful, found the staff to be very helpful, beautiful surroundings, very clean, will stay again!"
Monica - Aug 2022
"Lovely lodge in the countryside nothing for miles which is nice if you want a relaxing holiday like us. The only thing we would suggest is a shop near by for essentials as the nearest shop is in South Molton Town which is a 15 min drive away but other than that it was a fantastic place. We would definitely go again ?"
Louise - Aug 2022
"We had a great holiday at Romansleigh, the cabin was very clean with everything we needed! The surroundings were so lovely and peaceful!"
Emma - Aug 2022
"lovely views staff very polite caroline done a fantastic job sorting problem out and keeping us informed will go back"

Donna - Jul 2022
"We had an amazing stay we was in Willow lodge number 8 the view is to die for its breath taking we are a young family in our late 20s we brung our 3 and 2 year old plus 2 dogs we had a lovely 5 days we had bbqs everyday ventured out to a couple different beaches and just fully enjoyed our stay walked the dogs around on site took the kids to a lovely tree house and slide which they enjoyed could do with adding some bits for children as long as there’s stuff for children people would enjoy there selfs more knowing there’s a park on site or swimming pool or just couple extra things but other than that 10/10"
Joel - Jul 2022
"Wonderfull place very quiet and peacefull. A few issues with pot holes on access road."
Garry - Jul 2022
"What an amazing place to have a relaxing holiday, the location and views were amazing and the staff were very helpful"
Danny - Jul 2022
"Wonderful modern lodge with great facilities and friendly staff. Would highly recommend and visit again."
Natalie - Jul 2022
"This was our first time ever staying in a lodge, visiting Devon, it definitely was a dream! Everything about our holiday was amazing, we can’t wait to do it all again next year. The lodge was absolutely perfect for us, the hot tub was like heaven. I’ll be honest, reading some of the reviews and looking at where Romansleigh was, we didn’t have the best expectations but when we got there, that all changed. There’s nothing we could’ve asked for to make this experience any better, thank you!"
Elisha - Jul 2022
"Lovely lodge with lovely surroundings. The lodge had everything we needed"
Della - Jul 2022
"Fantastic place to explore dirty Devon Some of the roads are like being on a white knuckle rd ( very narrow) but well worth a visit"
Paul - Jul 2022
"If you like peace and quiet then this is the place. We stayed at chestnut lodge dog friendly, has lots of room and furnishings are lovely. This particular lodge is quite private when you’re in the hot tub unlike others on site which face the road. Plenty of walks at location or I would recommend Staunton Sands huge long beach dog friendly all year. Car park at this beach is car number registration as you enter, you do not pay till you decide to leave. Romansleigh lodges are more suited for couples, if you do have children then I’d take a trip to River Dart county park ( amazing place for kids and grownups) about 50minutes from Romansleigh but well worth the journey. Caroline and maintenance team are superb and professional. I would holiday here again"
