Romansleigh Retreat Reviews

"Clean, cosy beds and lots of space."
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"Great apartment. Lovely and clean and well kitted out. All that we needed. Nice condition throughout and decor was plain and unfussy - just right for us!"
Keith - Apr 2024
"Just perfect in every way"
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Absolutely stunning, another amazing 4 night stay Staff are always so lovely and helpful"
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Just back from a weekend away at Romansleigh retreat celebrating my 50th birthday. We had a very relaxing weekend. Compared to other similar places it was beautifully clean and very impressed with the hot tub maintenance. It was also very warm. ( we've found other locations hot tubs to be very disappointing). Ild say in peak time however not as secluded in lodge positioning but we didn't mind as the other lodges surrounding us were unoccupied. Very basic facilities, games room good for people with small children, we did find however couldn't use pool table. Know one around to assist. But wasn't huge deal. Lots in the area to visit. We bumped into the farmer adjacent to retreat, seems friendly, I think signage at bottom to say private road however is a must as sounds like lots of other people make our mistake and think it's ok to walk up lane with their dog! ???????Overall a pleasant stay. In beautiful surroundings."
Sally - Mar 2024
"Lovely site very quiet but wouldnt use again due to remoteness and access."
Verified Guest - Mar 2024

Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Very good unit and the grounds were excellent for walking our dog. Noticed a few marks on interior walls this year compared to last but having heard that the resort is in administration this year I guess the budget does not stretch to some of the finer details. Hope the sight continues and thrives."
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Friendly staff, lovely grounds, good location. Well signposted on lanes. Only reservation is narrow lane access with no passing places"
Verified Guest - Dec 2023

"We had a lovely week at Romesleigh Retreat. The hosts were super friendly and helpful when we were looking for dog friendly beaches. The treats you left for our dog were a welcome surprise and very much enjoyed. We will definitely be back again, ????"
Michelle - Nov 2023
"The hoover smelled, so we were un able to use it, and our freezer didn't function well. But aside from that, for a dog friendly accommodation it was lovely and clean."
Philip - Jun 2023
"We had a fantastic holiday and cannot wait to return."
Eleanor - Aug 2020
"Lovely clean lodge. Villages nearby and plenty to do with a drive. Site is quiet with only a few lodges, which we loved. Left the hussle and bussle of our every day lives behind and relaxed."
Penny - Aug 2020
"Apartment 4 is extremely spacious for 2 people. It is modern, clean and has a very comfortable bed! The views are fabulous, but I failed to locate the Juliet balcony and the windows were rather dirty, which is a shame with such wonderful scenery!
Although the description states the apartment has a washing machine, it doesn't! The site manager did advise me about this a couple of days before we arrived. It did not have a microwave either but on letting the manger know one was put in place. I also had to ask for oven gloves as there was no means of getting anything out of the oven safely.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we certainly got away from it all. The area is remote, which is exactly what we wanted. So peaceful all we could hear were the neighbouring cows and cockerel. Lovely to walk round the grounds in the evening and to watch the sun set. The staff on site were very helpful and accommodating . We hope to return in the future and maybe try one of the lodges next time."
Karen - Aug 2020
"Would highly recommend Romansleigh as a peaceful base to explore Devon."
Lisa - Aug 2020
"The Apartment was exactly how it looked like on the photo we were provided when booking. It was very clean and had all the basic appliances; oven, hob, microwave, kettle, dishwasher... The only drawback was there was no wifi and poor signal, however this is great for those quiet, peaceful holidays and in this case may actually be preferred by some . Overall we had a comfortable stay at Apartment 2 and would highly recommend to others."
Vaidayanathan - Aug 2020
"Excellent accommodation! Tiny recommendations to have a bath slip mat and a bin in the bedroom."
Donna - Aug 2020
"Spot on, a bit expensive due to location. Had to travel, so your expenses could go up a bit."
Lukasz - Jul 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay, having not done self catering for a number of years, our only criticism would be the bed which is way overdue for replacement! It was very wobbly and squeaky!"
Veronica - Jul 2020
"Lovely space lodge on beautiful site"
Mary - Jul 2020
"Very peaceful, found the staff to be very helpful, beautiful surroundings, very clean, will stay again!"
Monica - Aug 2022
"Lovely lodge in the countryside nothing for miles which is nice if you want a relaxing holiday like us. The only thing we would suggest is a shop near by for essentials as the nearest shop is in South Molton Town which is a 15 min drive away but other than that it was a fantastic place. We would definitely go again ?"
Louise - Aug 2022
"We had a great holiday at Romansleigh, the cabin was very clean with everything we needed! The surroundings were so lovely and peaceful!"
Emma - Aug 2022
"lovely views staff very polite caroline done a fantastic job sorting problem out and keeping us informed will go back"
Sarah - Jul 2022
"Beautifully clean and well equipped. Long track road to lodge. Nice, informative manager"
Tina - Jul 2022
"Absolutely wonderful , lodges are very comfortable and clean absolute peace and quiet , stunning location , staff very friendly would definitely go back and would 100 % recommend!"
Donna - Jul 2022
"We had an amazing stay we was in Willow lodge number 8 the view is to die for its breath taking we are a young family in our late 20s we brung our 3 and 2 year old plus 2 dogs we had a lovely 5 days we had bbqs everyday ventured out to a couple different beaches and just fully enjoyed our stay walked the dogs around on site took the kids to a lovely tree house and slide which they enjoyed could do with adding some bits for children as long as there’s stuff for children people would enjoy there selfs more knowing there’s a park on site or swimming pool or just couple extra things but other than that 10/10"
Joel - Jul 2022
"Wonderfull place very quiet and peacefull. A few issues with pot holes on access road."
Garry - Jul 2022
"What an amazing place to have a relaxing holiday, the location and views were amazing and the staff were very helpful"
Danny - Jul 2022
"Wonderful modern lodge with great facilities and friendly staff. Would highly recommend and visit again."
Natalie - Jul 2022
"This was our first time ever staying in a lodge, visiting Devon, it definitely was a dream! Everything about our holiday was amazing, we can’t wait to do it all again next year. The lodge was absolutely perfect for us, the hot tub was like heaven. I’ll be honest, reading some of the reviews and looking at where Romansleigh was, we didn’t have the best expectations but when we got there, that all changed. There’s nothing we could’ve asked for to make this experience any better, thank you!"
Elisha - Jul 2022
"Lovely lodge with lovely surroundings. The lodge had everything we needed"
Della - Jul 2022
"Fantastic place to explore dirty Devon Some of the roads are like being on a white knuckle rd ( very narrow) but well worth a visit"
Paul - Jul 2022
"If you like peace and quiet then this is the place. We stayed at chestnut lodge dog friendly, has lots of room and furnishings are lovely. This particular lodge is quite private when you’re in the hot tub unlike others on site which face the road. Plenty of walks at location or I would recommend Staunton Sands huge long beach dog friendly all year. Car park at this beach is car number registration as you enter, you do not pay till you decide to leave. Romansleigh lodges are more suited for couples, if you do have children then I’d take a trip to River Dart county park ( amazing place for kids and grownups) about 50minutes from Romansleigh but well worth the journey. Caroline and maintenance team are superb and professional. I would holiday here again"
