Dukums House Reviews

Janet - Aug 2024
The most wonderful place to stay for a family holiday. Perfect in every way! Relaxing views, lots of space. So quiet but in easy reach of all the attractions Dorset has to offer. Well equipped kitchen, comfy sofas, a fabulous dining table, excellent beds and lots of character. The children had a lovely area to play games outside too. One of the besRead moret places we have stayed in. Thank you so much. Hide
Sarah - Jul 2024
We had a fantastic stay - it is a beautiful house and fitted out to a very high standard. There is plenty of crockery etc without fear of running out before the dishwasher is turned on! It is great for multi-generational families. The wooden hot tub was fantastic, especially as we hadn't used one before, and is aesthetically pleasing with the countRead morery surroundings. Hide
Lorraine - Jul 2024
Lovely property in a lovely location. Well equipped and mostly very happy with it. Owners were unobtrusive but it lacks privacy generally if that's important to you. Spacious for our large family group in all respects except toilet facilities which were inadequate for the number it accommodates.
Jonathon - May 2024
A lovely stay, beautiful accommodation. Well equipped kitchen, very clean and comfortable. Stunning location. Thank you for a fabulous weekend stay!
Hayley - Jan 2024
We have had a wonderful weekend at Dukums. The setting was beautiful. The cottage was stunning. Tastefully decorated and really well equipped. The hot tub was a lovely addition. Hannah the host was so lovely. Couldnt do enough for us to make our stay really memorable and enjoyable. Thankyou so much.
Kundai - Nov 2023
Had such an amazing stay! The cottage met all of our expectations and looks exactly like the pictures. The garden view was amazing and the hosts where lovely..We tried using the Hot tub on the last day but we wasnt able to start it properly but except that we had a great time!!
Irene - Nov 2023
The cottage was stunning. It was everything we imagined and more. Definitely recommend
Peter - Oct 2023
A great place to stay, very well equipped.
Deborah - Oct 2023
A lovely property, clean, well equipped and spacious. The wood burning hot tub takes a while to warm up but once hot is a real treat. Plenty of parking and the children enjoyed the space to play football and the facilities in the play barn
Suzie - Sep 2023
Huge and very well equipped barn conversion. Super comfortable beds, lovely linens. The hot tub was a huge hit! Great area for beautiful walks.
Paige - Sep 2023
We had a really lovely stay. The cottage is in a great location and has beautiful views. We stayed as 6 adults, and 3 under 3s. The kitchen is really well equipped and all beds are comfortable. We did struggle only having 1 shower between all of us and the wet room is quite small so everything becomes wet in there which can be a pain. We would defi nitely stay here again. The games provided are excellent. Everything was clean and well presented. We enjoyed meals at the Nest, Forester & Grosvenor.
Alan - Jul 2023
Good location and walks from the door. Well equipped and friendly owners nearby.
Cheryl - May 2023
Dukums was the perfect place for our special family holiday, open plan worked perfectly, very well equipped kitchen, huge dining table, squishy leather sofas, children loved the bean bags, and bedrooms/bathrooms worked perfectly for us all. Great outside space with bbqs, we fired-up the hot tub every day amazing, all in the stunning Dorset county s ide. Walking over the hills, beach days at Lulworth and Swanage (by steam train!) Monkey World, Shaftsbury, loved it all, thank you Hannah & Nigel.
Lucie - May 2023
We had a wonderful family holiday! There is plenty of room at the house and the view/area is just beautiful. We enjoyed cooking family meals in the big kitchen and eating together around the huge table. The games barn was great fun. The hot tub was easy to use and added something extra to the lovely holiday home. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. And we had everything we needed for our 11 month old in the house. We hope to come back again soon and would definitely recommend to friends
Beverley - May 2023
Wonderfully peaceful & relaxing setting. Friendly & helpful hosts. Beautiful accommodation & great facilities. Just needs some adjustment to the bathroom area, which the owner is planning to address, and it would be perfect. I was part of a 3 generation party & everybody was happy, especially the 2.5 year old who loved the freedom and the sheep. An d we could relax, because it was safe for him. Will hopefully return. Have already reccommended it to a couple of friends.
Jess - Feb 2023
We had fantastic stay, the home was stunning and well equipped. We loved the local landscape and area, it felt peaceful from the moment we arrived. There was plenty to explore nearby, including walks and a vineyard. We also made trips to Stourhead and Longleat which are both a short drive away. Our children loved playing in the garden and the games area.
Meme - Feb 2023
It was just perfect for our girlie getaway. So much so, the girls want to book again. Fab place on all levels.
Michelle - Nov 2022
A lovely house in a beautiful location. Very cosy and the hot tub was awesome but took a long time for us to get it hot, make sure to give it a few stirs as you are heating it otherwise the water is hot on top but once you get in cold at the bottom!
Lucie - Oct 2022
Wow, what an incredible stay! The kitchen living area is so amazing, we couldn't have asked for a better environment to celebrate my birthday & engagement in. The kitchen is a joy to cook in and we really loved the hot tub! Location is gorgeous, we walked up the beacon & across to the nearby vineyard bar. Communications were great before & througho ut our stay. One note is the twin room is definitely a squeeze for 2 adults! Other than that, it was just totally perfect! Thank you so much!
Zoe - Oct 2022
Great location Beautiful house Well equipped kitchen Hot tub was the icing on the cake
June - Sep 2022
Arriving at this stunning location with wonderful views and the beautiful accommodation will instantly relax you and put you in holiday mode! This light airy home is stylishly furnished, and the owners have thought of everything that you would need to have a super break away, from ample appliances and utensils etc in the kitchen, to lots of games e tc, an amazing hot tub, and a log burner too! A wonderful holiday was had by all! Thank you!
Katie - Sep 2022
We had a brilliant time away the barn was beautiful presented and had everything we needed the additional extras were also a lovely little touch. The hot tub was very relaxing in the evening and the kids loved playing in it during the day. The games barn was another big hit with the adults and children. We had some much needed quality family time a nd will certainly be back in the future!
Jane - Sep 2022
Beautiful situation, lovely living area and warm, clean space to be in. Ideal for walkers - you start as you walk out the back door, and the view is nourishing if rain keeps you in.
Derek - Aug 2022
Couldn't have picked a better place for making memories with our family. Great accommodation and worked really well for my husband who is in a wheelchair. The children loved the games area. The hot tub was a great success too. Any problems we did have was quickly rectified by the owners. Thank you
Ben - Jun 2022
Absolutely blissful few days at Dukums, living a few days of luxurious rural idyll where the only thing you have to worry about is getting the hot tub to the right temperature and the timing of lighting the barbecue. Great walks, plenty of entertainment, superb accommodation. Well be back (again!).
Matthew - Jun 2022
Gorgeous views, great house. We had a great time. House was spotless and well stocked with what we needed. Good instructions and pre-arrival communication from Hannah.
Chelsea - May 2022
Beautiful property, very clean and spacious. Hosts have thought of everything you need for a comfortable stay. Would highly recommend and will be booking again
Danielle - Apr 2022
We had the best stay at Dukums House! It was beautifully decorated and very well equipped. The wood fired hot tub was fabulous and I can't even describe the feeling of sitting in the hot tub, over looking the stunning views, with the lambs bleating and playing - it made the stresses of the real world disappear, it was just perfect. There is a games barns to the rear and my family had so much fun, playing football, badminton, table tennis etc. and sunbathing on the giant bean bags. Just loved it!
Chelise - Apr 2022
This cottage was definitely worth it, had such good weekend here. It was lovely definitely will be coming back but for a little longer next time, seemed we werent there long enough. I would definitely recommend it for sure :)
Farhana - Mar 2022
Perfect setting and stunning property. Wonderful stay! Food at the Fontmell was lovely too.
Emma - Feb 2022
We celebrated my son's 30th birthday as a family and started the weekend with Storm Eunice. Our hostess could not have been more attentive to our needs with lovely details such as a highchair and a welcome drink. The weather was not kind but we were so well looked after with a heater arriving late at night to keep my 2 year old grandson warm and ca ndles when the power cut arrived. The hot tub was magical and the games barn a terrific hit. We will be returning to celebrate the next big birthday.
Iris - Jan 2022
A wonderful open plan living/ dining/ cooking space. Very cosy when wet and cold outside but beautifully sunny when the sun shone. Very well equipped. Lots of logs supplied. Beds very comfortable and bedrooms with good storage. Great to have the utility room. We were only 4 people so didn't use the bedroom next to the Utility room as it seemed very dark and cramped. Having 2 toilets could be v difficult for 6 or 8, as the wet room stayed wet for a long time, the 2nd one being in a bedroom.
Rebecca - Nov 2021
This was our second time at Dukums House and it was just as beautiful and amazing as last time. It is an amazing place to stay with stunning scenery all around. The property is spacious, clean and very well equipped with everything you would need for a very peaceful break away! When I spoke to the owner before our stay, she was very friendly and he lpful and gave us all the information we needed. Thank you so much for yet another wonderful stay and hope it won't be long too long until next time!
Megan - Nov 2021
We had a really lovely time at the house over the weekend. We stayed for 3 nights and the rooms/space was great. The location is super rural, but other cottages around so don't feel too isolated but it's private, & we enjoyed the sheep & cows in the fields opposite! We walked to the Fontmell pub and had a Sunday roast in another pub. We struggled t o get the hot tub to be hot enough as we didn't want to leave the fire unattended whilst out, takes about 4-5 hours! Would recommend to friends!
Katherine - Oct 2021
Amazing holiday, beautiful quiet picturesque countryside, attention to detail was definitely there- so much equipment in the kitchen for you to use even childrens cutlery! kindly left us milk and Prosecco in the fridge on arrival. The owner replied back to text/Phone immediately and was very helpful with the comments. Beautiful cottage and lovely h oliday we enjoyed with our 4 year old and in laws.
Susan - Sep 2021
The cottage is in a wonderful location with walks straight from the door. Shaftesbury is only 5 minutes drive away. The hot tub is great fun. The lounge/dining room/kitchen is very spacious. The only thing to note is that one bedroom has an ensuite and the other 3 bedrooms, potentially 6 people, have to share a wet room/toilet.
