Black Mountain Retreat Reviews

Emma - Sep 2024
We loved the stunning scenery and the peaceful vibe at the cottage. The views truly are breathtaking! The barn itself was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The beds were super comfyand the quality of the linen was great. Showers were spot on! We did have a few minor issues like no oven gloves, no towels in one roomand a water supply hiccup one morning, plus a bit of mouse droppings in the kitchen, but the owners were quick to respond. Overall, a lovely stay!

We really enjoyed staying at this beautiful barn conversion, tucked away in such a peaceful spot! The warm welcome basket with local goodies was a lovely touch. The location is perfect for exploring Crickhowell, Abergavennyand Brecon-lots of charming shops and eateries nearby. The garden with the hot tub was a highlight, offering stunning views of mountains and farmland. It was so quiet, just the sheep and birds in the background. We had an amazing holiday and would definitely come back to this lovely place!

The cottage is roughly 14 miles from Abergavenny, tucked away in a quiet spot. We were six adults looking to unwindand the lovely scenery, cosy cottageand hot tub were just perfect. It’s a great place for a chill holiday, especially being only an hour by train to Cardiff. We’re definitely coming back soon, can’t wait to return!

We stayed as a group of six and honestly, we’d love to come back! The place was spotless and cosy, with stunning views that took our breath away. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch-those Welsh cakes were a hit! Our little one, just 7 months, had a travel cot and high chairand he slept soundly while watching sheep and lambs outside. Lisa, the owner, was super friendly and kept in touch without being intrusive. Thanks so much for a great stay-highly recommend!
Emma Collins - Mar 2024
We had such a relaxing stay! The views were truly lovely and super peaceful, perfect for unwinding. The beds were incredibly comfy-best night’s sleep we’ve had in ages. We appreciated the thoughtful layout, making it easy to cook and chat with family either in the sitting area or at the dining table. The dishwasher and washing machine were so quiet, we could run them without disturbing anyone. Our medium-sized dog loved the gardenand we only noticed the gate later in the holiday. Overall, a fantastic break!

We stayed here just after New Year and honestly, what a lovely find! The cottage has been beautifully refurbished with top-notch facilities, comfy beddingand everything you could need. We loved relaxing in the hot tub and the open-plan living and kitchen area was perfect for six of us plus the dogs. It was decorated festivelyand the owners left some treats, which was a nice touch. Definitely a good place worth booking!

Emma Carter - Aug 2023
We spent a week at this lovely cottage and really enjoyed it. The decor was very stylish and it had everything we needed, which was great. The owners were friendly and suggested some fun activities for our teenage boys, which they loved. The beds were super comfyand the showers were fantastic! There was plenty of wood, matchesand firelighters for the hot tub too. It took about an hour to heat, but once it was warm, it stayed that way for ages with stunning views to enjoy. Definitely recommend!
