About Slate House Lodges

These beautifully designed, stylish lodges are set on the edge of Caersws village in the heart of the Welsh countryside, five miles from Newtown and halfway between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury. With outdoor activities, fascinating attractions and simply stunning views, Powys is a wonderful county to explore.

Slate House Lodges are next to a working farm and close to Caersws, a small village with a choice of pubs, a café and some local shops. The glorious Welsh coast is just a 45 minute drive away and you'll find beautiful walks, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and golf courses close by. Pamper packs are available so treat yourself and be greeted with bubbly, flowers and chocolates on arrival.

We love Valley View Lodge, a two storey luxury lodge with panoramic views across the Welsh countryside. It has two bedrooms, a spacious lounge / kitchen / dining area with a paved patio and outdoor hot tub. The king sized double bedroom has an en-suite shower - and with a reading room on the second floor, there's plenty of space for four people.

A trip to the pretty town of Llanidloes makes for a lovely day out - surrounded by mountain scenery, it's popular with wildlife enthusiasts, walkers and horse riders, plus there are plenty of pubs to choose from.

"Amazing place, amazing lodge, amazing views and surroundings, amazing host, amazing stay. What can I say: AMAZING!! Would recommend to everyone.
The pellet burner a romantic and genius idea, the fire without effort, mess and cleaning. The fresh milk, eggs and bread a lovely touch and we loved the coffee maker and the coffee selection, also all the cooking essentials there so no need to worry about oil, salt, etc.

Sofa might need replacement in the near future but apart from that, PERFECT

Thank you, we'll be coming back :)"

"Best holiday"
June - May 2022
"If you are looking for total peace and tranqulity Slate House Lodges is the place for you. Slightly off the beaten track but still have access to shops and supermarkets within a 10 minute drive. The communication prior to our arrival was fantastic and any questions we had were answered promptly. The first thing that hits you when you arrive is the silence and the stunning views. We stayed in Pool View and were very luck with the weather. The added bonus of the hot tub, was very welcome and used every day to relax. The lodge has everyting you need for a few days away and was spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend Slate house lodges ."
Karen - May 2022
"So peaceful with great accommodation"
Joanne - May 2022
"One of the best places I've stayed. Stands out as how holiday accommodation should be done. Congrats to the owners."
Julie - May 2022
"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Ivy Tree Lodge. Beautiful location, remote enough for complete peace and quiet, but only 20 minutes to nearest town (Newtown). Plenty to do and see locally with great walks, reservoirs and waterfalls. Yet an hour or so drive through some incredible countryside to some bigger resorts (Aberystwyth, PorthMadog etc). Our Hosts Paul and Holly (just up the hill) were very helpful and friendly. Take books and board games if you are taking teenagers. They will love the hot-tub, but may complain about the basic free-view on the TV and the WiFi not being strong enough to stream! Highly recommended destination for those that want modern, well equipped accommodation in a truly secluded and beautiful location."
