There is a range of beautiful beaches in the Padstow area. One of the most renowned is Constantine Bay Beach. This slice of heaven on the Cornish coast is an ideal place for walking, sunbathing, swimming, surfing and alike. With a small pop up coffee and ice cream van there regularly, you can treat yourself to a bite to eat and a drink during the day. This long and open beach is dog friendly making it an excellent place for dog owners in Cornwall.
Children will love to rockpool here too! Another stunning beach is Booby’s Bay, a short walk from Constantine Bay Beach. Here there is an abundance of rock pools filled with a range of species to discover. If luck is on your side you may catch a glimpse of the shipwreck off the coast, or dolphins and sealions paying the bay a visit. You could also walk to Trevose Head lighthouse from this beach.
A final beach to mention is Trayarnon Bay Beach. Trayarnon is also accessible on foot from Constantine Bay Beach and has a good range of facilities nearby. With toilets, a large car park and lifeguards this beach is a perfect place to spend the day. Why not stop at the Youth Hostel for a drink before heading back to your accommodation.
If you like to take a walk in nature and explore the local countryside, then Padstow has plenty to offer you. Why not walk the Padstow and Stepper Point Walk and uncover the Doom Bar, the Camel River and a daymark tower. All of this goes alongside studding coastal rock formations and ever changing sand features. At a length of 6 miles, it is on the longer side, but the path is fairly flat and with scenery this beautiful, you could easily take all day over it.
Alternatively, head towards Harlyn Bay. This walk is good underfoot until after Gun Point where walking boots are recommended. Along the way, you can explore more incredible coastal features and spot the remains of a huge cave collapsed. Stop in Harlyn Bay for refreshments before walking back to Padstow, or catch the bus if the one-way journey was enough for you.
If walking isn’t your cup of tea, the ferry to Rock may be of interest. This short ferry crossing is a faster way to Rock from Padstow than driving around the estuary. Once in the village Rock enjoy its sandy beaches and coastal views before taking a return trip over the river back to Padstow. A brilliant day out for those looking for something a little different.
Padstow and its surrounding isn’t all beaches and walking. There are some unique experiences on offer just a short distance away. Why not take advantage of the water and head to the Retallack Aquapark. This floating assault course is sure to be an activity to remember, for both the kids and adults. Release you’re stress and tension and just have fun! If you fancy something a little less energetic, take a trip with Padstow Sealife Safaris. Here you have the chance to spot seals, puffins and dolphins all off the North Cornwall coast. You’ll also see some stunning views from the speedboat as well as the Padstow Lifeboat building.
Those who enjoy cooking will love Rick Stein’s Cookery School. Have a masterclass with the head chef and spend the day cooking and eating your creations. Plus, there’s no need to wash up afterwards! Whether you want to learn some new skills, how to cook a perfect curry, or replicate the signature dishes on the menu, there is a cookery or skills course for you. There are also half day or full day options so it will easily fit around the rest of your plants during your Padstow stay.
Padstow truly is a natural paradise. Breathe in the fresh sea air and enjoy a week or two of relaxation. By the end of your trip, you won’t want to leave.
