About High Church Hill

This luxurious holiday home, High Church Hill, is situated on a farm in Witton Gilbert, Northumberland. The converted former grain store provides the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors with the family, within easy reach of the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

After parking up in one of the off-road spaces, take in your marvellous countryside location, with views of the rolling hills beyond.

Make your way inside to find a beautifully decorated open-plan living space, where everything you need can be found at your fingertips!

Make your way over to the contemporary, well-equipped kitchen, a space that is superbly fitted for any culinary task, owing to its range of integrated appliances, such as a dishwasher and wine chiller.

After the chef of the group has prepared a mouthwatering meal, enjoy it around the breakfast bar as a quick treat before heading out, or as a sit-down affair, over a glass of wine at the nearby dining table. In the evening, kick back and unwind in the fabulous sitting area, where chic seating rests in front of a flatscreen TV; switch on the electric fire for extra warmth!

As the day winds to a close, ascend the stairs to find three excellent bedrooms, the first of which is a light and airy king-size, thanks to the floor-length windows and vaulted ceilings; this magnificent space opens out to an en-suite area, where leisurely soaks amongst the vista can be enjoyed in the amazing freestanding bath. Two further bedrooms can be found close by, both of which feature a king-size bed and enjoy access to their own en-suite bathrooms.

Concluding the property's interior is an additional cloakroom, perfect for avoiding those morning queues! A highlight of the property is its landscaped garden, where a hot tub welcomes you with a relaxing soak at the end of a day packed with excursions.

Absolutely stunning views inside and out. The home is extremely cosy and has everything you need for the perfect family getaway! The kids loved visiting the alpacas and horses every morning and the hot tub with the views was a great addition! Couldnt recommend enough
Nicola - Sep 2024
Wonderful home, thoughtfully and thoroughly designed and prepared. Beautiful surroundings. Perfect
Wayne - Sep 2024
Lovely property with all the amenities you could need for a very relaxing stay. Chris was an excellent host and was always available if needed. Would recommend to anyone looking to get away for some peace and quiet with space for the dog and a fully enclosed garden area. Hopefully be back if we are back in the north east.
Emily - Aug 2024
Me and my family had another amazing break away. The views are beautiful from the huge windows and the garden is a great size for my children and dog to play in. Its a hidden gem that we are very pleased we found. The owners are lovely people and we cant wait to come back again
Michele - Aug 2024

Rebecca - Apr 2024
Had such a lovely time, house is beautiful and very well kept, even a maintenance form for if you notice anything wrong. Owners are lovely and very understanding, would most definitely go again. It was an amazing getaway for 6 young people, couldnt recommend enough
Victoria - Jan 2024
Amazing property, fantastic hot tub with lovely views. Our second time staying at one of Chriss cottages, both places are great with everything you need there. Attention to detail was spot on, from the towels provided, ample toilet rolls, etc. most holiday cottages lack these so these little extras really set this property apart. High end and upmarket cottage, you can tell no expense was spared. Well be back again next year thanks!
Charlotte - Dec 2023
The house and surroundings were superb, very accurate, comfortable and just what we needed. The sofa was cosy, and the kitchen had every utensil you could think of. With glorious views and lots of space inside it was a fantastic stay. Oh and the underfloor heating was such a treat. Thank you !!
J - Nov 2023
A glorious house for five adults. The views were amazing. The area around the house was lovely and quiet. More instructions in the house folder about how the heating is timed and recycling bins would be useful.
Sarah - Nov 2023
Our property was stunning, with lots of space for 5 of us and 2 dogs. So close to Durham and Beamish we would highly recommend. Whoever bags the main bedroom is on for a treat with a stunning floor to ceiling wall of windows with views over the fields. The other 2 bedrooms were also lovely each having their own shower rooms. The owners were also very helpful and accomodating.
Debbie - Oct 2023
Stunning, superb, spectacular! Photographs dont do it justice. Do not hesitate to book it if the price is right for you. We will definetly be back.
Deborah - Sep 2023
We had a wonderful relaxing week in this beautiful property. Very high spec, we certainly were spoiled and lacked for nothing. Lovely setting, very friendly area.
Gavin - Aug 2023
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Great communication from the hosts and the place is to die for. Great for our large family and dog. Will be back for sure.
- Jun 2023
What a fabulous house. This was our second visit to Witton Farm and it wont be the last. We cannot praise the owners high enough. They are so nice and friendly and make you extremely welcome. There is everything you could conceivably need in the house it is so well appointed they have thought of absolutely everything. So as someone once said .we will be back !
Robert - Jun 2023
We were very happy with our stay, a few minor issues which we did report back to the owner. Nothing of significance that spoilt our week. The bedroom with the large bath was very warm and few windows could be opened. We bought a fan to help keep it cool. We did have a particularly warm week. Hot tub excellent. Fantastic kitchen and lovely enclosed grass area for the dogs. Good walks from the doorstep. Two local pubs. Travellers Rest was good for food, Glendenning Arms for drinkers. Both welcome dogs. Best to get the bus into Durham, 10 mins and half hourly service most times. Lanchester worth a visit. Excellent food at the Kings Head. Beamish museum, 25 mins by car, is a must and prepare to be there for the day. We hope to return again to this property, or one of the others on this excellent complex.
Gena - May 2023
Had a wonderful stay at High Church Hill would definitely recommend. Extremely well equipped, huge enclosed garden that was perfect for our lab, stunning views and was bliss watching the horses and alpacas from the patio with a cup of tea in the morning. Will certainly be returning!
Christine - Feb 2023
Absolutely loved this property. Ideal for families, we had our 4 year old grandson with us, loads of space for him to play. He loved the animals in the field opposite. Kitchen very well equipped. Highly recommend staying here.
Chris - Feb 2023

Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT
about 20 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
Big Sheep - EX39 5AP
about 35 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX
about 36 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
