About Durham Coastal Lodges

Durham Coastal Lodges are an intimate cluster of gorgeous boutique lodges in a stunning rural setting.  The modern lodges all come with outdoor hot tubs and additional special features such as remote control mood lighting and a wood burning stove with logs. Nothing has been overlooked and the the attention to detail in the quality linen and towels add even more luxury to your stay.  WIFI is also included.

The countryside setting gives these lodges a restful vibe but of course you're close to the historic city of Durham when you want to get out and explore.  The Catherdral and Castle are renowned worldwide and the charming cobbled streets and quaint shops and cafes await.  There is also a good choice of pubs and restaurants in the city.

Outdoor activities are on the doorstep, with walking and cycling being very popular in the area.  Beamish Museum is accessible from the lodges and makes a great day out for families and couples alike.

Choose your lodge to suit, we love the Little Owl Lodge which sleeps 4 and is stylish and luxurious.  The Penny Lodge is slightly larger and has 3 bedrooms, sleeping 6 in total.  The Penny Lodge has a large family shower room.  The Willoughby Lodge is also a great option for families with a modern open plan living design.  All of the lodges have spacious decking areas to enjoy the rural scenery and of course you can relax in the private outdoor hot tubs.

"Amazingly private, beautiful inside and out and brilliantly clean! We spent 2 nights in Penny Lodge at Durham Coastal Lodges and every aspect is wonderful. The views out into the country side, the secluded corner to yourself with private hot tub were the highlights. Comfy beds with nice bedding and the towels were fluffy. Everything you could ever need in the kitchen."

Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT
about 28 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
Big Sheep - EX39 5AP
about 35 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
