Scotland
South West Scotland is renowned for its rugged coastline, quiet sandy beaches, forests, ancient castles and fabulous moorland. These pretty stone cottages are surrounded by beautiful and peaceful countryside, close to the town of Kirkcudbright with its Old Jail, Tolbooth Art Centre and MacLellan's Castle.
Nearby Galloway Forest Park is a 'Dark Sky' park - the inky black nights mean that over 7,000 stars and plants are visible with the naked eye so it's a fabulous place to go star-gazing. You can play nine holes of golf at Craigieknowes, and Laggan Outdoor, just a short distance away, has zip wires, archery, grass sledging, Segway, mountain boarding and clay pigeon shooting.
Galloway Cottages has a stunning choice of accommodation, with cottages that have up to five bedrooms. For a large family party, the Farmhouse sleeps up to ten people - it's spacious, beautifully designed and set over two storeys with an enclosed garden and outdoor hot tub as well as an open plan living area with wood burner.
There are plenty of places to eat and drink - The Masonic Arms in Gatehouse of Fleet is only a few miles away and you can enjoy good food and real ale in this cosy beamed bar.
