Herons Mead Woodside Lodges

"We had a brilliant time in the lodge. It was good that the lodge was totally fenced off so that our dog could roam, most lodges don't have this. The lodge was very clean and tidy and everything you needed. Maybe more washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets for a week stay."

"We stayed in the new oak lodges at Herons Mead, newly built in 2024. It was very comfortable and all the mod cons you would expect, inc hot tub & private garden. Very relaxing too with the fields, and pretty quiet. The site has all you need, with nice quality food served at the restaurant. Fishing lakes were good, and good location for attractions/coast etc.Water pressure at Oak Lodge 2 that we stayed in is very low, meaning the showers are barely functional really. That was a bit disappointing as a basic requirement and a new lodge. The lodge twin patio doors leading to the steps & hot tub doesn't have a blind or curtain, it could be because the garden is private but we think it needs the option regardless. Might be worth thinking about a solid flagged pathway around to the lakes and restaurant etc. We had our 7 month old and the stone driveway isn't ideal for prams/pushchairs etc. If your staying in the new lodges, and they are to be build more, it is a bit of a walk round to the lakes for example if you have kit. The fishing is included in your stay price not an extra but we got a slightly conflicting answer from the reception staff member. So that probably needs to be a bit clearer. All in all though we were happy with our choice to stay at Herons Mead and we would return in the future. It is a good base for the coast, or other attractions."

"The Hawthorne lodge was wonderful. It was very spacious and all the fixtures and fittings were of a high standard. The only improvement would be a large fridge/freezer as we stayed for 7 days and struggled with the small fridge. However, thats a minor detail and we would definitely return."
