Where is Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa?

Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa is set on the slopes of the Mendip Hills in Cheddar, Somerset. It's a truly beautiful part of the UK which is famous for its Limestone hills which rise to over 1000 feet. Here you'll find caves, including the Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, and Gough's Cave.

Where can you park?

Parking is nice and easy here as you can park right next to your lodge. You can leave your car there for the duration of your stay.

Can I bring my own cot bed?

Yes but mattresses or bedding cannot be provided for cots, and some accommodation types may not have sufficient space to accommodate a cot bed.

Can you get Tesco, Asda and other shopping delivered here?

Yes, you can get shopping delivered here. Just set the delivery slot to after 6pm and give the name of your lodge. This a brilliant idea that I saw someone doing on a lodge break. Why spend hours packing and unpacking your food and supplies when you can get it directly delivered to your door?

Is there a shop at Cheddar Woods Resort?

Yes, there is a small shop where you can buy the essentials you might need for your break.

Can you rent a high chair?

Yes, high chairs area available at Cheddar Woods either at the time of your booking, or when you get there. The fee is £15 for the length of your stay.

Is there an enclosed space for pets?

If you're taking your dog with you to Cheddar Woods Resort, you have a dedicated enclosed decking area and the lodges have gates that will keep pets from harm.

"Monday to Friday stay in a 3-bed Axbridge Lodge Premier - we were really impressed by the whole place. The Lodge was spacious, fully equipped and perfectly situated. Add a hottub and it becomes the needed retreat. The reception staff were lovely, and nothing was too much trouble. Third night a little cooler & fourth night was too cool. Cleaning of this lodge compared to our stay at Hawkchurch was sadly not as good. Dining table felt tacky to the touch & bathroom & en-suite floors (along edges & into corners) had not been thoroughly cleaned. Such as shame compared to the high standards of our previous stay at Hawkchurch. Pillows not comfortable either"

"Sorry as the space was great and clean. Nice curtains, had everything you need. Was surprised by an extra toilet & washing machine. What let it down was In need of severe repair! Kitchen cupboards need fixing, some were missing. Kitchen floor poor repair job made it look cheap. You look around and see old marks on the inside of the building, bathroom mirror in poor state, shower doors in awful state. Decking had nice furniture spoilt by a whole in the table and the decking is in need of cleaning. I would never choose this accommodation again. Ever no matter how cheap."

"Was a fab location with cheddar reservoir and Cheddar village/ Gorge, minutes drive away. As well as many other places of interest not too far e.g., Blagdon Lake, Mendip Hills The lodge was adequate for our needs, lovely hot tub (wasnt turned on when we arrived but staff helpful in solving this) Only issue would be cleanliness of lodge we stayed in, seemed unkempt (piles of dust on floor, streaks and prints on windows and mirrors, utensils and oven not great) and also the oven took an age to cook anything. Swimming pool lovely, especially for a little one, not very big so imagine gets hectic in peak seasons. However says heated but was not warm at all. Other facilities fab, lots to do for little ones but bar quiet for drinks. Lovely staff, lady on reception gave my little one a free duckie which was much appreciated! We would stay again!"

A few little niggles such as TV in bathroom not working and very squeaky floorboards (a bit of a nightmare with our toddler being a light sleeper) but overall negligible.Only suggestion would be to have better blinds in the bedrooms as they do very little to keep the sun light out in the early morning (especially with a sky light in the master).Hot tub was great and checked regularly and the lodge had all equipment needed."

The resort has great facilities with tennis, bastketball, football and we signed up for some of the Go active activities sea scooters and sea kayaks were a hit. Our daughter also enjoyed the pirates paradise. The pool is fabulous, clean and modern. We visited on the first week of the school holidays and it never felt too busy. Go active staff were great."

Mendip Outdoor Pursuits is the perfect place for an action packed day of fun and is recommended for families with children aged 8 and over. The fantastic setting could hardly be better far activities such as Abseiling, Archery, Climbing, Caverning and Canoeing. The site also has a fantastic assault course. Brean Leisure Park in Somerset is the place to head for family fun. The site has over 130 rides and attractions with something for all ages and abilities. Adults and children alike will love the more traditional fairground rides which include waltzes, roller coasters and of course dodgems! Older kids and teenagers on the hunt for white knuckle attractions can try out the terrifying 'XTreme' ride - 130ft of exciting twists turns and drops. Longleat Safari and Adventure Park - BA12 7NW

You may have seen this amazing attraction on the BBC1 Animal Park programme. This is actually the first safari park outside of Africa where you can get close to the animals from the comfort of your own car. Some of the highlights include the zebras, the wallabies in wallaby wood and the sea lion escorted cruise to Gorilla Island. And of course the magnificent lions and tigers are a must see. Rhondda Heritage Park - CF37 2NP

Rhondda Heritage Park is located at the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery and is a popular attraction with a range of facilities including a visitor centre, an art gallery, a gift shop, and a lovely period re-constructed Village Street. Fully guided tours are available and include multimedia presentations as well as a unique trip underground where visitors will experience the life of a coal miner. The site also boasts a children's play area and an underground experience zone.

Puzzlewood - GL16 8QB

Puzzlewood is a somewhat unique attraction within the beautiful Forest of Dean. Visitors can explore the mile of pathways passing over wooden bridges and through some stunning tree and rock formations. The maze of pathways are quite enchanting and the site has recently been used as a location for the BBC1 production of Merlin. While enjoying the splendour of nature there are many types of wildlife to meet along the way including Shetland ponies, Donkeys and Highland Cattle. A Hocus Pokus Halloween event takes place from the 24th to the 31st of October.
