Calvert Kielder Reviews

"This treehouse really is a unique find! Its super clean and minimal, but still has all the fun of glamping. The kitchen is well stocked and the pull-down bed plus stools are so comfy and easy to store away. We loved it!"
Emma - Feb 2025
"Would've preferred a proper table over the breakfast bar setup."
Oliver - Feb 2025
"The scenery was truly lovely and the hot tub was perfect after a long day. However, arriving at 5pm in winter felt a bit late since it gets dark so early and the stony path from the parking isnt great if youre in a wheelchair. Still, we enjoyed it!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"The lodge was stunning, really spacious and super well equipped. Cleanliness was top-notch too!"
Emily - Jan 2025
"Our Calvert Kielder review: Cozy place, loved the vibe"
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"The place was spotless, which we really appreciated. However, considering how spacious it is, there should be more USB sockets. We only had one plug charger and the rest were USBs. Bit of a pain not having enough spots to plug everything in, especially since we brought multiple devices. Overall, a lovely stay but needs better socket availability!"
Emma Carter - Feb 2024
"We stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, its even more stunning in person. The entrance gives a real wow moment, much better than the pictures suggest. We did have a couple of minor issues, like resetting the hot tub and turning off the underfloor heating, but everything was sorted smoothly via email instructions. The lodge is well-equipped and though most of the site was closed due to the time of year, we still loved it!"
Alex - Feb 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay in Kielder Forest, the dark skies at night were absolutely stunning! Highly recommend."
Emma Carter - Jan 2024
"The hot tub was cold until the second evening, which was a bit disappointing given the price we paid for the lodge. Not ideal at all!"
Emma - Nov 2023
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge! It was super cosy and spotlessly clean, with everything we needed for self-catering. The peaceful surroundings made it perfect for relaxing and the facilities were top-notch. We didnt try the restaurant, so cant say much about that. Overall, a lovely, quiet getaway wed recommend!"
Mrs. L - Nov 2023
"We stayed at The Bradbury recently and honestly, its a gorgeous place with lovely furniture and a really nice vibe. That said, there were quite a few annoyances. The kitchen was poorly stocked; no glasses or bowls for cereal or soup, which was frustrating. The main shower was broken from the start and they only replaced it right at the end of our stay-by then, wed already had to use the en-suite for showers, which isnt ideal in a place this pricey. Also, the hot tubs position meant you couldnt see much when lifting the cover, kinda disappointing overall but still a stylish spot."
Emily - Aug 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was fantastic and had everything we needed. Its super comfy and well set up. The only thing is, the park outside isnt great for little ones - quite small and limited. Also, it would be much safer if there was a gate on the decking to keep dogs and kids from wandering off towards the road. Still, a lovely place overall!"
Emma - Jul 2020
"Really great experience overall"
Charlie - Mar 2020
"Well definitely visit again! Since its self-catered in the lodge, we made sure to bring our essentials. Coming from the south, we found that the Co-op in Bellingham is the best place for affordable food nearby-about nine miles from the lodge. The shop near the Boat Inn is a bit too expensive for us. Oh and Bellinghams bakery next to Co-op is lovely! Elf Kirk also offers some truly stunning views, really worth the trip."
Alex - Mar 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay, it was just what we needed after a busy week. Sadly, we didnt get to see everything, so well definitely be returning to check out the rest. Thanks for a lovely experience, well be back!"
Emma J. - Nov 2019
"Really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings here"
Confirmed Guest - Sep 2019
"Really enjoyed the peaceful vibe here, perfect for our family of four, kids loved it, highly recommend!"
Alex - Jul 2019
"We had such a lovely stay! The lodge was perfect, super cosy with underfloor heating and a stunning hot tub overlooking amazing scenery. Everything we needed was there. Cant wait to return - it really was a fantastic experience!"
James - Mar 2019
"The lodge was lovely, but we were pretty gutted the hot tub wasnt ready on arrival."
Emily - Feb 2019
"Really enjoyed the stay, the lodge was comfy and well-equipped! Cheers!"
Emma - Feb 2019
"Loved the experience, definitely coming back soon, fantastic service!"
Emily - Feb 2019
"Perfect escape, just what we needed."

"Really enjoyed our stay here"

Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 1 Mile
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 24 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT

Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX
about 27 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
Alnwick Castle and Gardens - NE66 1NQ
about 36 Miles
Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
