Gadgirth Estate Lodges Reviews

"Great cabin, lovely log burner, great gift basket, clean and tidy cabin, lovely hot tub, wonderful host, great location. Highly recommend"
Calvin - Mar 2025
"Lodge was really clean and well kept with everything you would need for a few nights away. Hot tub overlooking the river was bliss! Beds and couches really comfy, great for chilling by the fire. Had iron and ironing board, washing machine and tumble dryer which was so handy."
Amy - Mar 2025
"Excellent thank you"
Kirsty - Mar 2025
"Absolutely amazing we love it every time we go just gets better"
Gary - Mar 2025
"Our Gadgirth Estate Lodges review: I had a lovely break with my family. Such beautiful grounds and wonderful lodges with log fires. We were pleasantly surprised with a welcome basket. The kitchen was stocked with bread, butter and eggs which we were so grateful for given that we had little kids with us. A special shout out to Ian who was so friendly and welcoming! I will definitely be returning with my family in the Summer."

"Overall good but WiFi could be better"
Paul - Jan 2025
"We stayed in the Apple Lodge for a week over the Christmas period.POSITIVES:- The lodge itself is lovely; cosy and clean - its also got a lovely design to it.- The Christmas welcome hamper on arrival (Prosecco, Quality Street and Mince Pies) was a lovely touch.- The lodge was decorated with a Christmas tree due to season.- There was a general welcome hamper with tea, coffee, bread, butter, biscuits, and milk in the fridge.- The wood storage area outside has no shortage of kindling to keep the log burner/furnace going, which was great and added to the cosy atmosphere. - The bed is super comfortable. - Blackout blinds in the bedroom add to a great nights sleep.- There was a welcome pack to explain the area, etc - good communication.IMPROVEMENTS:- The wifi is almost completely unusable. This really hindered the stay, to such an extent that we had to leave on one of the days (as we were still working remotely) and the wifi wouldn't allow us to connect to emails, or the internet/video calls. We reported this, and Karen came to investigate, which consisted of her showing us that she can stream iPlayer on her phone, and that "no other guest has had any problems". However, the next day, we spoke to the guest in the cabin next door, who said "the only problem with this place is how bad the internet is." So it wasn't only our problem; it may just have been that we're the only ones who raised the issue. Most days, unless we sat right by the front door of the cabin, we couldn't connect to the internet or check our emails. When we did sit by the front door, we just about managed to get a face time call with family for Christmas day. However, even this was patchy and unreliable.- No dressing gowns for hot tub use - this might seem unnecessary, but for what we paid, we'd have been given these to use at a hotel. - And because the hot tub in the apple lodge is exposed, overlooking the car park, Gadgirth office, next door's cabin and their hot tub, the need for some privacy felt essential.- No toilet brush.- No hooks to hang coats or towels.- Only 4 clothes hangers in the wardrobe, which for two people for a week, isn't enough.- Some shelving in fridge was broken/missing (in Apple Lodge). Again, with staying for a week, this made stocking food tricky.- The car park is probably big enough for 8 cars, but only if guests park sensibly. There was far too much space given between cars, which made parking tricky at times. This could be avoided by designated spaces painted for each lodge, or even just lines marking spaces.VERDICT:If youre looking for a place to get away from everything and switch off from the world, this place could be for you, as the wi-fi is borderline unusable and the best phone reception you can hope for is 3G. This was more of a hindrance than a benefit to us, as we had to work remotely on our first two days of the stay.I fully appreciate its not Gadgirths fault we had to work, and they do make a point of telling you in the welcome pack in the lodge that Please consider that were in a wonderfully rural location and as such the wifi and phone signal are probably not what you remember at home. So, why not switch it all off and enjoy a total techno-detox!Thats fine, if thats what wed signed up for - but it wasnt. The fact it was Christmas week meant we really needed to have connectivity so that we could call video chat with family and friends. We feel they should really make the fact the lodges have poor wifi connection clearer before booking. The fact that, just days later, we spent New Year in the Arctic Circle (with perfect WiFi connection and 4G/5G wherever we went) to me suggests that rural location isn't a good enough excuse in 2024. Having said that, there were a lot of positives (mentioned above) and if the internet connection was good, this stay would have been excellent."

"We had the most amazing honeymoon everything was perfect, the surroundings to the hot tub.We stayed in herons rest lodge for 7 nights the lodge itself was perfect it does need a little bit of TLC in some parts but it didnt effect our stay one bit and it was just perfect for us a family. It was so peaceful waking up every morning and in the evening in the hot tub.Everything was provided from towels, hamper on arrival with milk, bread etc and the kitchen was well equipped. We will definitely be returning in the future the perfect honeymoon."

Yvonne - Sep 2024
"Gadgirth Lodges are amazing. Owners Ian & Karen are lovely and amazing hosts. The lodges are luxury and have everything you need. Lodges are spotlessly clean and well looked after. Hot tub is amazing. We hired the bbq hut this year and it was great, we had some lovely fillet steaks on it. Highly recommend these lodges - have stayed a few times over the years and have booked again for May 2025. Thanks for your hospitality."
Elaine & Tony Ferran - Sep 2024
"We have stayed at Woodcutter lodge for a one week in August. The lodge was clean, spacious and modern. Beds were comfortable. In the kitchen drawers you can find all needed utensils to prepare a perfect meal for family of four. There is a washer dryer and dishwasher what is really useful if you stay with kids for more days and love to explore wildlife surroundings. Welcome pack was a really nice surprise (coffe, tea, sugar, sweets, bread, milk).WiFi is not super quality but hey! It is a perfect place to spend some quality family time in calm and peaceful place. Hot tube was checked daily, always hot and ready to use. Highly recommended!"
Anna - Aug 2024
"Lovely location. Lovely comfortable lodges with all mod cons including a wood stove, plenty of wood and controllable heating if necessary. Grounds immaculate. Hot tubs cleaned and checked every day. A community feel to the layout with a superb bbq hut at the centre, lovely for a family get together."
Cheryl - Aug 2024
"It was very clean and well kept. There was so much items to help with your stay, hoover, cleaning items, even tissues at the bathroom. Makes for a comfortable stay"
Lisa - Jul 2024
"Perfect lodge for two people. Very cosy and comfortable."
Gael - Apr 2024
"Great lodge, really comfortable, nice views to the river from the decking and hot tub. Plently of space for our family of 5. Lots of nice touches, welcome pack, toiletries etc. we really enjoyed our break here and would recommend and book again in the future."
Jaclyn - Apr 2024
"Beautiful lodge, lovely furnishings, comfortable beds with choice of firm or soft pillows. Very clean."
Verified Guest - Apr 2024
"We have just returned from a 7 night stay in the kingfisher Lodge. We received a lovely welcome on arrival and was shown to and around the lodge. During the week the hot tub was checked on daily. The lodge had everything we could need from cooking equipment to logs for the fire. There was plenty of towels the only thing I found was no slippers or dressing gowns for the hot tub which we have had at previous hot tub holidays, it made no difference we were fine without but would of packed them had I not known. Its dog friendly our pooch was keen to return to the lodge after our time out exploring. Culzean castle not far and well worth a visit. Tesco and morrisons were also about 15 mins away. The hot tub was just perfect if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing stay as the kingfisher lodge is right on the river. We would return here in a heartbeat what a lovely location."
Ceri - Mar 2024
"Great place to stay and loads to do around Ayr. Great view from the lodge next to the river, trees and wildlife. Seen the grey heron, lots of birds very peaceful and relaxing place to be. Would definitely recommend Gadgirth for a relaxing and peaceful place to stay."

Karen - Mar 2024
"Beautiful location with an amazing lodge which has fantastic facilities, is very clean and spacious, endless supply of wood burner logs and it was a lovely touch to have a welcome food package. Would definitely recommend."

"Great location and lodge super comfortable excellent fittings and equipment So relaxing and chilled can't wait to go back"
Dereck - Jan 2024
"Excellent from start to finish. The owner/manager very friendly and the tour was quick but informative and not overbearing. The facilities are great, bed very comfortable as is the couch. The fire is the perfect addition for the cold months. Its also a bonus the wood is free as other places do charge. We had the fire on every night. Hot tub stayed warmer than other lodges weve been to. We will be back in September"
Lee - Jan 2024
"Had an excellent, quiet, peaceful weekend break at Gadgirth estate lodges. Memorable occasion was going down to the decking area overlooking the River Ayr with our morning coffee cups and enjoying the view over the river."
Frank - Aug 2022
"Excellent facilities and would definitely return. My only criticism is the size of the shower in the Holly Lodge. There is a separate bath, however if showers are preferred the shower is very tight. Apart from this everything was excellent and all the little extras were very much appreciated including a lovely welcome basket. The wood burner a fab added bonus too We would return Summer or Winter. The owner was very friendly and welcoming too. Also interesting nearby activities, we enjoyed Culzean Castle,(lots on the grounds too including a fab woodland playpark) Robert Burns Museum (fab playpark included here too) and his Cottage. We also visited Rozelle Park and galleries. Fantastic short break?"
Mary - Jul 2022
"Beautiful lodge in a beautiful setting. Barbecue hut and hot tubs are brilliant. You need to be prepared to drive to go anywhere even out walking to explore the countryside and the WiFi is poor. Neither of these points are bad but just useful to know in advance I think. Highly recommended for a few nights of R&R."
Dalene - Jul 2022
"We had a fantastic holiday in Kingfisher View. Son took his fishing rod and although he didn't catch anything he enjoyed being right on the river. Staff were lovely. Surroundings so peaceful and wildlife spotting was fab too. We will def be back."
Kirsty - Jul 2022
"Very quiet area with not in much to do, so dont use unless your prepaired to get on your bike, walk, or car to look for something opther than poor peace and quiet. Hot tubs good and cleaned every day by staff. Villa are excellent, well maintained and furnished. We had a couple of issues which were sorted out quickly. My family live in this area so suited us."
May - Jul 2022
"Beautiful lodge just a wee bit too remote if not wanting to drive"
Tracey - Jul 2022
"Outstanding! Perfect place if you just want to switch off and relax. Stayed with husband and 2 young children. Ayr town 15 minutes in car."
Kirsty - Jul 2022
"This place was beautiful, had a great stay. Staff were helpful and very clean. Beautiful touch with the welcome back. Would recommend this place to anyone. Great location to travel around Scotland"
Amy - Jul 2022
"Loved it here . What an amazing hideaway . I went with my four sisters for my seventieth birthday as I was born in the village nearby . The wonderful roomy lodge was right by the river with otters swimming by , squirrels chasing in the trees , owls hooting Then the hot tub . What a treat . We will all be going back I hope"
Janis - Jul 2022
"The location, cabin and welcome totally blew us away! We absolutely loved it and we are already planning our next trip back!"
Joanne - Jun 2022
"Beautiful riverside location and the site was immaculate and really well maintained by the owners who clearly have a lot of pride about the site. The interior of the lodge was stunning and had everything we needed. It was near to all the local places to visit as well, most places within 30 mins drive. We would certainly recommend it!"
Joanne - Jun 2022
"Stunning lodge, perfect getaway for some chill time. 10 out of 10 for me. I’d highly recommend."
