About Shepherds Rest - Montgomery

Shepherd's Rest sits just 2 miles from Montgomery town in Mid Wales in the heart of some of the most impressive countryside we've seen (check the pics!) This glass-fronted lodge delivers jaw-dropping views across the landscape with floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the open-plan living space with natural light. Set in a stunning countryside setting, this property puts adventure right on your doorstep.

Hike the nearby Offa's Dyke trail or explore the 12th-century castle ruins in Montgomery. Pop to the local pub which is within easy walking distance. After a day out, the private hot tub is a real highlight and has some excellent views to take in!

The accommodation includes two bedrooms - one super-king-size with patio doors to the hot tub and a twin zip-and-link that can become another super-king. Both bathrooms ooze luxury thanks to touches like the roll-top bath. and the kitchen has everything including essentials like an induction hob and dishwasher. You'll never feel the chill here thanks to underfloor heating that keeps things toasty year-round.

Visit Powis Castle (15 miles, 25 mins), Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall (22 miles, 40 mins), Bishop's Castle nature reserve (10 miles, 20 mins), or explore the beautiful Shropshire Hills (12 miles, 25 mins).

We recently enjoyed a 4-night break hereand it was fantastic! The welcome basket with local goodies was a lovely touch. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed, including for our dog. Waking up to such beautiful views every morning was a real treatand relaxing in the hot tub with the scenery was just perfect. Carol was a brilliant host, always ready with great suggestions for food and places to visit. The local folks were so friendly too. We’d love to return soon-thanks so much for a wonderful stay!

We’ve just come back from an amazing week at Plas Robin Rural Retreats. Staying in Shepherds Rest with our dog was fantastic - the place is gorgeous and finished to such a high standard, it felt truly luxurious. The location is superb, with plenty of walks nearby, charming pubs serving lovely foodand loads to do within a short drive. The hosts were really friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We’re already planning our next trip! Highly recommend this place.

This National Trust site is one of the finest in Wales. The stunning castle was once a medieval fortress and has been remodelled several times over the last 400 years. The Great Hall is home to some amazing collections of paintings as well as sculptures and tapestries. The gardens are world famous with stunning areas of French and Italian style as well as a gorgeous orangery. Children's activities can be enjoyed during school holidays and on special occasions such as Halloween and Christmas.

Locally renowned for the Sheep Steeple chasing and daily goat races this is a really unique family attraction that the kids will love.  You can really get hands on with the farm animals with the animal handling sessions and you can have a go at teaching the parrots to talk!  The crazy craft cabin will keep even the most creative entertained with pottery and painting amongst other things. When you are in need of a rest head for the The Hungry Shepherd Tea Room where you can enjoy a bite to eat and children can burn even more energy in the indoor play area.
